They use specialized instruments to test air quality and certify environments as safe for workers by measuring oxygen levels and detecting the presence of toxic or flammable gases. Their expertise is crucial for maintaining workplace safety and complying with legal regulations regarding confined space entry.

What are some of the common challenges faced by gas free engineers during ship inspections?

Gas Free Engineers often encounter challenges such as accessing confined or hard-to-reach spaces, accurately detecting and measuring hazardous gases, and ensuring compliance with strict safety standards. Job Description:
Senior / Principal Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Engineer
Location: Juno Beach, Florida (Onsite)

An opportunity is available for a Senior or Principal RNG Engineer to support a growing fleet of Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) and Landfill Gas to Energy (LFGTE) facilities. This position is for an operations-focused engineer who will serve as a technical leader across operations, maintenance, and project support. This role acts as a partner to Operations Managers, driving plant reliability, maintenance strategy, and operational excellence across multiple sites. A key responsibility is leading the transition of new and existing plants from construction and commissioning into integrated, steady-state operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced technical support to RNG and LFGTE plant operations to ensure safe and reliable performance.
  • Lead complex troubleshooting efforts and root cause analysis for operational and equipment issues.
  • Lead the development and optimization of preventative and corrective maintenance programs across RNG assets.
  • Utilize and enhance Maximo (CMMS) for asset management, work order execution, and maintenance planning.
  • Partner with site teams to improve maintenance execution, outage planning, and long-term asset reliability.
  • Lead and support the transition of RNG facilities from construction and commissioning into full operations.
  • Develop and implement operational readiness plans, including procedures and system handoff requirements.
  • Serve as a senior technical resource for Project Managers during plant upgrades, expansions, and commissioning.
  • Analyze plant performance, downtime, and maintenance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or related) from an ABET-accredited program.
Experience: Senior Level requires 5+ years, and Principal Level requires 8+ years in RNG, LFGTE, power generation, or similar industrial environments. Experience supporting plant startup, commissioning, or operational readiness transitions is required.
Technical Skills: Expertise in plant operations, maintenance practices, and industrial equipment systems. Experience with CMMS platforms, preferably Maximo, and maintenance program management is necessary. The ability to lead troubleshooting and resolve complex operational issues is also required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct experience with RNG or landfill gas operations.
  • Experience leading maintenance, reliability, or outage programs.
  • Familiarity with compressors, gas treatment systems, flares, and related equipment.
  • Experience supporting commissioning and startup of industrial facilities.
  • Six Sigma or continuous improvement experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Power BI, etc.).
Travel
Up to 40% travel is expected to support site operations, troubleshooting, commissioning, and project activities.
