Job description

Role and Scope of Position:
Responsible for the operation of the Company's Gas Control room operation. Direct, oversee and monitor all activity on the distribution system to ensure safe, continuous, and reliable gas service to all customers via a comprehensive control room operation monitoring and controlling all aspect of activity on the gas distribution system.

Essential Functions:

  • Leads Gas Control's oversight of the gas distribution system ensuring activities are performed in accordance with federal and state regulatory requirements, specifically 49 CFR 192.631 Control Room Management.
  • Coordinates with LNG and LPG Operations to lead Gas Control in meeting customer needs for supplemental gas as required, ina manner fully supportive of the LNG/LPG plants physical design limitations and the contracts negotiated by Energy Supply.
  • Oversees the safe, compliant, and effective Gas Control remote operation of the Eversource LPG plants while coordinating with LNG/LPG Operations.
  • Collaborates with Instrumentation & Regulation (I&R) leadership ensuring alignment focused on safe, compliant, effective operations.
  • Leads, partners, and participates with Engineering and I&R in the development and continuous improvement updating of compliant standard telemetry devices and installations, with emphasis on technology improvements and cost-effective telemetry decisions and operation.
  • Leads the Gas Control team in adoption of API RP 1173 within the control room environment by developing a vision and execution strategy for proactive behaviors and operation which must complement the requirements of 49 CFR 192.631.
  • Creates meaningful tracking and reporting of productivity and efficiency within the Gas Control department.
  • Collaborates with other Gas Operations Directors to manage, balance and coordinate external and internal resources required to meet short- and long-term objectives and performance goals.
  • Establishes and monitors goals, policies, plans, standards, performance objectives and budget for Gas Control to ensure alignment with both the Gas Organization and corporate goals.
  • Leads Gas Control and collaborates with other departments in gas curtailment planning, integrated planning, supply planning, and emergencies.
  • Ensures compliance with Transportation Security Administration security directives for both physical and cyber security. Monitors and reports as needed for ongoing compliance.
  • Collaborates with other Gas Directors in developing a robust, consistent, and fully integrated framework of work practices for Gas Control ensuring operational excellence and best in class processes.
  • Oversees development of area staff. Ensures accountability of direct reports and developsa mindset of ownership and employee accountability for the team driving needed outcomes and consistent level of productivity and quality of work.
  • Drives and leads changes within the team related to internal structure, staffing, schedules, work locations, and other changes that are needed to improve or align the operation of Gas Control with the Gas Business.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Requires thorough knowledge of federal and state regulations pertaining Control Room Management
  • Knowledge of natural gas distribution operations a plus
  • Requires working knowledge of information technology and the use of the Company's Gas Business office automation and information systems.
  • Requires strong administrative, communication and leadership skills.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, applied science, related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Master's Degree or MBA preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of twelve (12) years gas distribution, utility, or technical experience

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration and work stoppage assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment but does require some time in the field to resolve complex problems and keeping up to date with their operation.
