QPS – Inland Compressor Mechanic

Location: Inland Waters – Cocodrie, Louisiana
Schedule: 7 Days On / 7 Days Off
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

Quality Process Services (QPS) is seeking an experienced Inland Compressor Mechanic to join our team in Cocodrie, Louisiana. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing natural gas compressor packages and associated production equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. The ideal candidate has extensive experience working with Caterpillar compressor engines and a strong commitment to safety and equipment reliability.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive and routine maintenance on natural gas compressor packages.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair compressors, engines, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Perform major compressor and engine overhauls independently.
  • Maintain and repair triplex and centrifugal pumps.
  • Inspect and maintain cooling, lubrication, fuel, and ignition systems.
  • Identify mechanical failures and complete repairs in a safe and timely manner.
  • Conduct routine equipment inspections and accurately document maintenance activities.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, including work performed and parts used.
  • Operate and test repaired equipment to verify proper performance and ensure operational reliability.
  • Assist with compressor startups, shutdowns, and operational testing.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, specifications, and mechanical drawings.
  • Coordinate with operations personnel to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
  • Follow all QPS and customer safety policies, procedures, and environmental requirements.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Compressor Mechanic.
  • Hands-on experience with the following Caterpillar compressor engines:
    • CAT 3512
    • CAT 3516
    • CAT 3600
    • CAT 3506
  • Strong knowledge of natural gas compression systems and related equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic, and engine systems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make sound maintenance decisions.
  • Ability to work a 7 Days On / 7 Days Off rotational schedule.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions.
