Job description

This role specializes in repairing bunker gear protective ensembles using commercial machinery to ensure compliance with NFPA 1850 standards. The NFPA 1850 Bunker Gear Garment Repair/Sewer will handle patch application, re-stitching, and seam repairs while participating in annual training to stay current with all procedures and quality requirements. This position is an individual contributor role within a repair team at FIRE W.I.R.E. LLC, a third-party verified company, and involves regular communication with fire departments and end users for inspection and quality assurance purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform gear repair including patch application and seam stitching
  • Conduct quality inspections in line with NFPA 1850 standards
  • Use commercial machinery for protective ensemble repairs
  • Participate in annual training sessions for updated repair procedures
  • Maintain regular communication with fire departments and end users
  • Ensure repair work meets inspection and quality assurance requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Entry-level experience in protective gear repair
  • Technical training in garment repair or textiles

Juanita is a Retired ER and ICU RN with more than 20 years of experience. Prior profession includes 14 years of experience as a professional seamstress.
Our combined experience gives us a good understanding of how to perform expert handling of Fire Bunker Gear, properly deal with contamination, and professionally repair the garment.
