Kitchen Assistant - Job Description

Cedarcrest Foundation is seeking a passionate and experienced Kitchen Assistant for its Conference Centre in Belfountain, Ontario. Cedarcrest hosts some Women Only activities that require Female Only staff.  You will assist the culinary team to deliver excellent customer service to our guests at our Conference Center in Belfountain, Ontario. Reporting to the Administration Director, this is a hands-on position with opportunities for the successful candidate to learn and expand their skills set.

What you will be doing:

  • wash work tables, meat blocks, cupboards, walls and appliances and clean kitchen work areas, equipment, utensils and dishes
  • sweep and mop floors, and perform other duties to assist cook and kitchen staff
  • remove and clear kitchen garbage
  • remove dishes before and after courses, scrape and stack dishes, carry linen to and from laundry area
  • clear and clean tables and trays in eating establishments
  • bring clean dishes, flatware and other items to serving areas and set tables
  • refill condiments and other supplies at tables and in serving areas
  • unpack and store supplies in refrigerators, cupboards and storage areas
  • help to wash, peel and prepare basic food items and beverages
  • wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots and pans either with a dishwasher or by hand
  • place dishes in storage areas, sweep and scrub floors, sort and remove garbage and wash garbage cans
  • may also clean and prepare food, keep kitchen work areas clean and orderly load and unload trucks picking up or delivering food and supplies
  • Follow cleaning standards and guidelines while clearing tables for guests once they have finished their meals
  • Keep inventory of items such as clean dishes and napkins and ensure that ample amounts are available as needed
  • Possess the ability to maintain a high level of focus while completing various tasks such as washing dishes, loading and unloading dishwashers, restocking items such as napkins and cutlery, and maintaining a clean environment for guests
