Class B CDL Driver | Garbage Truck Driver | Local Routes | Frederickson, WA

Pierce County Refuse / LeMay, a Waste Connections Company, is hiring a Class B CDL Driver in Frederickson, WA.

This is a full-time, local driving position operating residential and commercial garbage trucks throughout Pierce County.

Pay & Schedule

  • Starting Pay: $35.50 per hour

  • Regular wage increases

  • Full-time, year-round employment

  • Overtime opportunities available

  • Typical Schedule:

    • Monday through Friday

    • Start times between 4:00 AM and 6:00 AM

    • Occasional Saturday work as business needs require

  • Average workweek: 45 to 55 hours

CDL Driver Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a Class B garbage truck on residential and commercial collection routes.

  • Follow route schedules and service all assigned customers accurately and efficiently.

  • Read route sheets and utilize routing technology as required.

  • Operate hydraulic systems and automated collection equipment.

  • Load, lift, dump, and service refuse, recycling, and waste containers safely.

  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete required documentation.

  • Identify and report mechanical issues, safety concerns, accidents, or vehicle damage.

  • Navigate residential neighborhoods, commercial districts, construction zones, and high-traffic areas safely.

  • Maintain compliance with DOT regulations, company policies, and safety procedures.

  • Provide professional customer service while interacting with residents, businesses, and municipal customers.

  • Complete assigned routes independently while adapting to traffic, weather, and operational changes.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

This is a physically demanding position requiring the ability to:

  • Enter and exit the truck cab repeatedly throughout the day.

  • Lift, carry, push, and pull 50 pounds or more on a regular basis.

  • Walk, bend, twist, reach, climb, and work on uneven surfaces.

  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including rain, heat, cold, and wind.

  • Operate safely around traffic, construction zones, disposal facilities, and active work environments.

  • Work around noise, dust, odors, vibration, moving mechanical equipment, and municipal solid waste.

  • Perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Air Brake Endorsement.

  • Minimum of one year of commercial driving experience.

  • Ability to meet DOT requirements and maintain an acceptable driving record.

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English for safety and operational purposes.

  • Knowledge of vehicle systems necessary to complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections.

  • Ability to work overtime and occasional Saturdays as needed.
