The Dietary Aide assists in food preparation, food tray preparation and delivery to facility residents; cleans the kitchen and dining area under the supervision of the Dietary Manager or Cook by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities

  • Read production orders on diet cards on trays to determine items to place on tray
  • Place items such as eating utensils, napkins, and condiments on trays
  • Prepare food items such as sandwiches, salads, soups, and beverages under the supervision of the cook
  • Place servings in blender to make foods for soft or liquid diets
  • Apportion and place food servings on plates and trays according to diet list on diet card
  • Examine filled tray for completeness and quality assurance of food tray and place on cart
  • Push carts to dining room or halls and serve trays to residents
  • Collect and stack dirty dishes on cart and return cart to kitchen
  • Store food and supplies properly
  • Wash dishes and clean work area, tables, cabinets, and ovens
  • Collect and place garbage and trash in designated containers
  • Record amount and type of special food items served to residents
