About the Role

Aastha Adult Medical Day Care is seeking a reliable, compassionate Activities Assistant (Adult Day Care), fluent in Dari and English to support cultural, recreational, and wellness activities. Responsibilities include translation, participant support, attendance, enrollment, transportation coordination, documentation, special events, and communication with families, staff, and drivers while maintaining a safe, inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities
   i) As an Activities Assistant, you will:  
  • Assist with planning, coordination, and delivery of engaging recreational, cultural, and wellness programs that promote quality of life, social connection, and emotional well-being.   
  • Develop and lead culturally meaningful activities, including music, crafts, games, storytelling, celebrations, workshops, and recreation.
  • Facilitate inclusive group and individual activities tailored to participants’ physical, cognitive, and emotional needs. Provide social counseling as needed.
  • Organize daily activity schedules, monitor participation, and ensure programs run smoothly.
  • Provide translation, communication, and social support during activities and interactions.
  • Ensure participant safety, dignity, inclusion, and respect at all times.
  • Maintain accurate records, activity documentation, data entry, electronic filing, compliance documentation, and program feedback.
  • Communicate effectively with participants, families, staff, and transportation providers regarding participant needs, schedules, and preferences.  
  • Coordinate transportation logistics for timely and efficient pickups and drop-offs.     
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and external agencies to improve program quality and participant outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve programs, engagement, and services.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned  
ii) Teamwork & Compliance:  
  • Collaborate with staff for smooth operations and proper disposal of items. 
  • Support overall center operations as needed
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisors.  
        
iii) Other Duties Included:  
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support center operations and participant care.
  Requirements:  
  • High school diploma or equivalent.  
  • Fluent in Dari and English (spoken and written).  
  • Proficient with computers and office software (Microsoft Office, Email, Adobe Acrobat, Web-based applications, and other common office applications)  
  • 6+ months’ experience with older adults or individuals with disabilities preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity.  
  • Ability to lead small and large group activities with enthusiasm and patience.  
  • Must pass background check and meet health screening requirements.  
  • Additional language skills in Pashto is a plus.
