Become part of a team working on some of the most rewarding, large-scale creative projects to be found in any entertainment medium - all within an inclusive, highly motivated environment where you can learn and collaborate with some of the most talented people in the industry.
Rockstar Games is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join our Online Services organization, as someone who can lead a skilled and diverse team of developers. The successful candidate will be working on innovative technology with an internationally established team, while having great attention to detail, being a strong teammate and having excellent communication skills.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about games, eager for new challenges, and ready to continue our legacy of creating the greatest games in the world.
This is a full-time, in-office position based out of Rockstar's NYC headquarters in Downtown Manhattan.
WHAT WE DO
  • The Rockstar Games Online Services Team is a passionate development group, focused on growing and maintaining the technology platform that powers Rockstar's online titles and our ability to deliver world-class player experiences.
  • We create online services for our games, including matchmaking, cloud saves, leaderboards, player inventory, player stats, bounties and more.
  • We create connected experiences that are found across our game franchises.

  • Guide and mentor the team, and collaborate with senior engineers, to facilitate problem solving for complex challenges.
  • Define objectives and key results for the team, devise plans to meet the objectives and communicate those via roadmaps to technical leadership.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for engineering team members, including regular check-ins to assess progress and re-align where necessary.
  • Demonstrate engineering best practices, consistently applied: including code quality, testing, system design, performance optimization, and observability.
  • Partner closely with other teams across Online Services and Rockstar more broadly, to deliver high-impact, scalable solutions and integrate systems into the wider infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and Production team members to define scope and requirements and schedule upcoming projects.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical collaborators, focusing on understanding their needs and translating complex engineering concepts into clear, actionable objectives.
REQUIREMENTS
  • 8+ years of professional software development experience at an enterprise level organization.
  • 3+ years leading an engineering team of 4 or more people.
  • Expert in C#, .NET, and SQL for building highly performant large-scale automated processes and modern web applications.
  • A degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to effectively facilitate communication with teams in various locations worldwide and team members at different levels.
  • A strong sense of ownership, with a proactive nature, and a drive to accomplish objectives and drive a team to success.
  • Established leadership skills with track record of building and leveling up strong team members.
  • Proven ability to reconcile technical and business perspectives and break down implementation details from product requirements.
  • Experienced using automated test frameworks to ensure quality.
PLUSES
Please note that these are desirable skills and are not required to apply for the position.
  • Experience with .NET 8, TypeScript, and React.
  • Experience working with UX designers to build quality UIs that enhance workflows.
  • Appreciation of accessibility standards.
  • Knowledge of big data ecosystems, including Kafka and Databricks.
  • Experience with event processing or message bus frameworks.
  • Knowledge of Rockstar Games titles and a passion for playing video games.
