The New Mexico Goatheads are defining the future of professional hockey in New Mexico. Beginning play in the 2026-27 season, the Goatheads will compete in the ECHL at the Rio Rancho Events Center, bringing professional hockey back to the state and establishing a new chapter in New Mexico sports history.
The Goatheads represent communities across New Mexico and are committed to building a team that reflects the grit, pride, and resilience of the region. Our organization is focused on creating a bold, authentic brand, fostering strong community relationships, and building a culture that players, staff, and fans are proud to represent.
This internship is for the 2026-27 ECHL season and offers approximately 20 hours per week, with a flexible schedule that includes weekday office hours, home games, evenings, weekends, and select special events.
The New Mexico Goatheads are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Merchandise & Operations Intern to assist with the day-to-day operations of the organization throughout our inaugural season. This internship provides hands-on experience in professional sports by supporting merchandise operations, inventory management, retail fulfillment, game day logistics, and special events while working alongside the organization's full-time staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING:
  • Assist with merchandise inventory counts, organization, and stock replenishment.
  • Prepare, pack, and fulfill online merchandise orders.
  • Receive, organize, and process incoming merchandise shipments.
  • Assist with Team Store setup, operation, restocking, and breakdown during home games.
  • Support game day operations by preparing promotional items, signage, and operational materials.
  • Help organize storage areas, inventory spaces, and operational workspaces.
  • Assist with merchandise displays and maintaining a clean, organized retail environment.
  • Support community events, promotional appearances, and special team events as assigned.
  • Assist with general office projects and administrative tasks that support business operations.
  • Work collaboratively with multiple departments, including Marketing, Ticket Sales, and Operations.
  • Represent the New Mexico Goatheads in a professional and enthusiastic manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Sports Management, Business, Marketing, Operations, or a related field.
  • Available to work approximately 20 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, holidays, home games, and select events.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing in a team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt to changing needs.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds.
  • Previous retail, customer service, warehouse, or operations experience is a plus but not required.
