Job description

Pinnacle Solutions is looking for a passionate and motivated Game Designer to join our virtual development team on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate has a foundational understanding of game design principles, and a strong desire to learn and grow in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, have a can-do attitude, and be willing to take ownership and help grow the capabilities of our growing engineering team. This position will provide an opportunity to apply academic experience to the creation of serious games, with the possibility of work continuing through the school year. Daily work will require experience in the Unity game engine and the ability to learn custom frameworks, toolsets, and workflows.
This role is primarily geared towards college students looking to get early professional experience, with employment expected to last from the day of hiring until the end of August of 2026, with the possibility of employment being extended.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with artists, software engineers, subject matter experts, and other game designers to implement gameplay features and training content for serious games.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with quick turnaround times.
  • Follow development standards using proprietary development tools.
  • Debug and resolve bugs, performance issues, and gameplay inconsistencies.

Qualifications
  • Currently studying for a Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Game Design/Development, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of 3D game mechanics.
  • Familiarity and understanding of how to use the Unity Game Engine.
  • Understanding of and the ability to program in C# and/or Lua.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical skills and attention to detail are a must.
  • Ability to work in a team and take constructive feedback.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • US citizenship.
  • Based in, or around Huntsville, AL.

Desired Qualification:
  • Experience in AR/VR development.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, Perforce).
  • Familiarity with agile development workflows.
