Job description

Amazon Game Studios is looking for a Game Designer - we build exciting new casual and innovative games using Amazon's GameNight phone controller experience as well as traditional controllers. Working with and guiding our development partners, you will innovate new categories in games, including working with best-in-class IP and creating new titles like Courtroom Chaos that utilize pioneering player-facing AI features.
In this role, you will participate in the idea generation of what kind of great games will be best for all kinds of casual game players, with a particular focus on creative design and player-facing AI features that create magical, dynamic gameplay experiences that appeal to non-traditional gaming audiences. In tandem with Publishing Leadership you will help manage multiple games in development across multiple external partners and work cross functionally with production, art, UX, and tech partners.

You will leverage your game design knowledge and expertise to help guide our external development partners in creating innovative experiences for Amazon customers who play games. Working in a publishing capacity, you'll establish respectful and collaborative relationships with world-class game developers. You thrive in an entrepreneurial environment and will collaborate with stakeholders to resolve ambiguity and balance competing priorities.

- Partner with and help guide external game developers to ideate, design, and launch great original casual games on Luna including Amazon GameNight experiences
- Design gameplay features that support engaging, accessible gameplay for mass market audiences
- Contribute design ideas that leverage runtime AI to personalize and enhance player experiences, working within the team's creative vision
- Work on multiple concurrent projects and interface with all levels within the organization with candor and respect

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in Games Industry (supporting title Development, Release, or Live Ops)
- 5+ years experience as a game designer working in the game industry
- Strong experience designing and shipping innovative and/or casual games across multiple platforms
- Excellent communication skills, as well as analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven design expertise with shipped titles demonstrating complex interconnected game mechanics
- Experience creating end-to-end game experiences from the concept stage to shipping
- Experience working with third-party developers in a publishing or partnership capacity to build great content
- Experience creating and documenting high-quality design documentation
- A portfolio that demonstrates process and capabilities in crafting compelling gameplay and robust game design.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience designing player-facing AI features such as adaptive difficulty, dynamic content generation, intelligent NPCs, or personalized gameplay experiences
- Familiarity with runtime (not production) AI systems and their application to enhance player experiences, or demonstrated willingness to learn and adopt emerging AI gameplay technologies
- BA, technical or creative degree, or equivalent work experience
- A passion for emergent technologies and new gaming trends
- Experience working on large scale transmedia IP and/or with celebrity talent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
