Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Director, Software Architect, will provide technical leadership for teams, driving innovation in the development of processes, product architecture, and driving engineering projects which support our delivery capabilities, quality and reliability. Work in a positive way to mentor engineers on the team, empowering them to provide the best possible attractions and product. Guide technical projects and be accountable to the technical quality of the team. 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work with project teams and studio leadership developing code for global development projects involving infrastructure for online gaming architecture for multiple platforms/games/consoles
  • Design recommendations and solutions for existing architecture to    improve performance, security and reliability
  • Architect, develop, maintain, and optimize the middleware, SDKs, internal libraries, and everything in between
  • Contribute to the company standards for coding, reviews and documentation
  • Support production teams to manage feature breakdown, estimates, technical risks and mitigation.
  • Interface between Client partners, TLM Partners and other departments providing development, documentation, influence strategy and overall direction.

  • Where appropriate, guide and enforce alignment with software and networking security requirements. Software configuration control and immutable archiving/history
  • Supervise Exempt and Non-Exempt Team Members
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: 

Required Qualifications

  • Experience engineering complex products that span multiple platforms.
  • Experienced in building large deployments of consumer facing networked applications for PC, Mac, gaming consoles or mobile devices.
  • Mentorship and the experience to grow engineers.
  • Experience managing teams of software developers.
  • Strong C/C++, optimization and debugging skills.
  • Well-versed in PC and Mobile game development techniques and best practices
  • Great with lateral thinking and motivation to work independently and on a team as well as the ability to work directly with teams across multiple territories and time zones.
  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation from the beginning of a project through completion.
  • Dedication, teamwork, professionalism, and strong interpersonal skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience in the role of Technical Director, Director of Engineering, or similarly leveled positions.
  • Systems and Network Engineering experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with common game industry tools & middleware.
  • Expertise in Artificial Intelligence, Analytics, Mathematics, Physics, Graphics, or Audio preferred.
  • Preferred experience working within Microsoft, Sony, EA, Take Two, and utilizing publishers best practices.
  • Experience engineering complex products that span multiple platforms.
  • Experienced in building large deployments of consumer facing networked applications for PC, Mac, gaming consoles or mobile devices.
  • Mentorship and the experience to grow engineers.
  • Experience managing teams of software developers.
  • Strong C/C++, optimization and debugging skills.
  • Well-versed in PC and Mobile game development techniques and best practices
  • Great with lateral thinking and motivation to work independently and on a team as well as the ability to work directly with teams across multiple territories and time zones.

EDUCATION:  

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or similar field required

EXPERIENCE: 
  • 10+ years in building large deployments of consumer facing networked applications for PC, Mac, gaming consoles or mobile devices.
  • Experience engineering complex products that span multiple platforms.
  • Proven success guiding technical projects and accountability to the technical quality of your areas of ownership
  • Mentorship and the experience to grow engineers
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
