Job description

Senior Account Manager (Health / Life Science)
ABOUT LUCID DREAM
Lucid Dream is a custom game and interactive experience studio. We help leaders in medical, scientific, and technical industries use emerging technology to transform the way they engage, train, and explain complex science to providers and patients. Inspired by games, we create immersive and interactive experiences for VR/AR, mobile, desktop, and web transforming education and engagement through purposeful play.
Located in the heart of downtown Durham, NC, our office at the historic American Tobacco Campus is a short walk from world-class dining and entertainment venues including the Durham Bulls Athletic Park and the Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC).
ABOUT THE ROLE
As an Account Manager at Lucid Dream, you'll be the day-to-day contact for client relationships, helping keep the work moving, communication clear, and clients confident. You'll own the health of those accounts while listening closely for the opportunities, challenges, and signals that point toward what we should be doing next together.
You'll serve as the connective tissue between strong delivery and long-term client partnerships by bringing a point of view, asking good questions, and pushing back when it serves the work. You'll translate what clients say into clear strategic and creative inputs for our internal teams, while partnering with project managers on execution and leadership on growth.
You will not be responsible for managing every production detail, but you will be responsible for making sure the client relationship, strategic intent, and commercial opportunity stay clearly connected to the work.
Qualified candidates have experience in client services at a digital agency, healthcare advertising agency, experiential studio, or similar creative production environment, ideally with exposure to life science clients.
Primary Responsibilities
Client Relationship Ownership
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, including high-value and high-potential client relationships
  • Build trusted relationships with marketing / brand, training, commercial, and other client stakeholders
  • Develop a working understanding of each client's broader business goals, brand strategy, therapeutic area, and internal dynamics
  • Lead regular client communication, including status updates, working sessions, and key milestone reviews
  • Represent Lucid Dream as a strategic partner, not a vendor, guiding conversations towards sharper framing and stronger outcomes

Account Growth & Strategic Development
  • Identify opportunities to expand scope and deepen client relationships through the natural course of delivery and annual planning activities
  • Move qualified account growth opportunities through defined pipeline stages to close, maintaining accurate forecast data, and activity tracking in the CRM
  • Develop project proposals, scope additions, and change orders in partnership with delivery leads
  • Proactively recognize friction, risk, or misalignment on accounts and take ownership of resolving it or escalating thoughtfully
  • Surface insights from project work, client feedback, and field interactions that inform account strategy and renewal conversations
  • Champion a delivery-led growth mindset, treating every project as an opportunity to demonstrate value and earn the next one

Project & Delivery Partnership
  • Partner closely with project managers, creative leads, and developers to ensure work stays aligned with client expectations and strategic intent
  • Translate subjective client feedback, such as "this feels off" or "it needs more energy," into clear, actionable inputs the team can execute against
  • Review work in progress with a critical eye, flagging misalignment between deliverables and client objectives before it reaches the client
  • Help keep client priorities, project scope, and internal team realities in balance
  • Hold the line on scope when appropriate, and know when to flex, balancing client satisfaction with project profitability

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
  • 4-6 years of relevant client services, account management, or production experience in a digital agency, healthcare advertising agency, experiential studio, or similar creative environment
  • Experience working with life sciences, healthcare, medtech or pharmaceutical clients strongly preferred
  • A consultative, point-of-view-driven approach to client relationships
  • Comfort challenging assumptions and reframing requests when it serves the work
  • Familiarity with HubSpot, project management tools such as ClickUp, Monday, Trello, or similar, and Google Workspace

WHAT WE OFFER:
  • Robust company culture committed to our core mission and values
  • Amazing group of talented colleagues, and a management team dedicated to transparent leadership and helping everyone grow and thrive
  • Competitive salary
  • Employer-sponsored health, vision, and dental
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan with company match
  • Responsible Paid Time-Off Policy
  • Hybrid Work policy
  • Parental Leave Policy
  • Downtown Durham office with parking
  • Monthly team-building events
