Job Title
Game On Turf | Reliability Tech C / D
Position Overview
Shaw Industries is seeking a Reliability Technician C/D for 2nd Shift (Monday-Friday 3:00pm-11:00pm) to support our Game On Turf production line. The primary responsibility of this role is to maintain and repair assigned equipment while actively participating in root cause analysis to resolve machinery issues. This position involves identifying corrective actions and implementing solutions to prevent recurring equipment failures. The ideal candidate will take a proactive approach to problem-solving and play an active role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our machinery.

Essential Knowledge & Skills:
  • Lubrication:
    Proficient in following plant-specific lubrication practices, including proper storage, contamination prevention, oil sample collection, and selection/application of greases and oils.

  • Measurement:
    Ability to convert measurements between fractions and decimals, and from standard to metric. Skilled in using digital calipers for precise measurements (to 0.001") of components.

  • Mechanical Print Reading:
    Capable of identifying parts in exploded views and providing accurate sketches with dimensions.

  • Power Transmission:
    Experience in selecting and installing components for belt and chain drive systems, troubleshooting wear and misalignments, and performing shaft alignment.

  • Bearings:
    Expertise in measuring shaft diameters and selecting appropriate bearings, along with proper installation and removal techniques.

  • Hydraulics:
    Knowledgeable in checking and changing hydraulic fluids and filters, diagnosing, and replacing faulty hydraulic components.

  • Piping/Plumbing/Pumps:
    Demonstrated ability to install rotary unions, modify piping systems, and identify and repair faults in plumbing systems.

  • Pneumatics:
    Skills in checking and replacing components in pneumatic systems, including filters and control valves.

  • Tools:
    Proficient in using a variety of hand and power tools, including grinders, chisels, and torque wrenches, as well as creating threads with tap and die sets.

  • Troubleshooting:
    Strong troubleshooting skills to identify root causes of failures in mechanical systems using systematic methodologies.

Non-Equipment Related Tasks:
  • Perform general maintenance and repairs as directed by management.

  • Attending required meetings and training sessions.

  • Ensure cleanliness and safety in the work environment.

  • Document maintenance activities accurately in the CMMS (Sharp) system.

  • Meet performance goals focused on efficiency and downtime reduction.

  • Provide training to fellow technicians as needed.

  • Complete DOSTool activities relevant to current pay level and higher levels as required.

Critical Skills:
  • Participate in identifying root causes of gaps and opportunities.

  • Participate in implementation of effective solutions to prevent reoccurrences of equipment issues.

  • Basic math skills are essential

  • Proficiency in advanced computer skills preferred

  • Willingness to learn to operate Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT).

  • May be required to operate aerial lift

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs, sit, stand, or walk for most of the shift.

  • Capable of lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying loads of up to 50 pounds without assistance.

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, grasp, reach overhead, and operate hand and power tools.

  • Comfortable working in elevated environments (ladders, lifts, etc.) for extended periods.
