Manager, ย Venue Infrastructure Delivery

The VNI (Venue Infrastructure) team plays a critical role in delivering competition and non-competition venues that are functional, innovative, and accessible for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. As part of the larger Sport & Games Delivery group, the VNI team ensures that all venues are designed,ย developedย and deliveredย with the highest standards for functionality, sustainability, and inclusion.ย ย 

As Manager of Venue Infrastructure Delivery, the role manages the end-to-end design, build, and delivery of a key Games-time venue. You will act as a deputy to the Sr. Manager, within a team of 3-4 staff members, working alongside external partners and contractors. Initially, you will coordinate with internal teams, external partners, and consultants to finalize Olympic and Paralympic venue designs. You will then transition to on-site execution, construction, and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadershipย ย 

  • Supervise sub-functions including design teamsย ย 
  • Develop and adhere to departmental budget with clear steps to implement,ย monitor, and appropriately measure deliverablesย ย 

Design Developmentย ย 

  • Assistย in the delivery of the design development strategy and process for one of the Games Time Venuesย 
  • Support the integration of internal stakeholders with external delivery partners, including architecture,ย engineeringย and other departmental resources to ensure a coordinated processย ย 
  • Facilitate approvals and review process for all internal and external stakeholders involved inย establishingย venue technical requirements for Games infrastructureย 
  • Ensure a robust, data-driven approach to venue design and deliveryย 
  • Provide design support for required venues to deliver fit-for-purpose and cost-effective solutionsย ย 

Cross-Functional Collaborationย ย 

  • Establish close working relationships with key functional areas (especially Event Management, Hospitality & Ticketing, Games Operations, etc.) to ensure the venue design development process aligns with cross-functional planning timelines and objectivesย ย 
  • Work with the IOC and IPC to understand all requirements, get strategic buy-in, andย expediteย approval processes where necessaryย ย 
  • Problem solve and negotiate with stakeholders to get the best outcome
Background & Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experienceย in event overlay design and temporary infrastructure delivery. Preferred working knowledge of California Building Code requirementsย ย 
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Sports Management, Construction Management, Event Management, or related field or equivalent work experience strongly preferredย 
  • Previousย experience in event operations,ย logistics, hospitality, or a related field preferredย

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • The position is based inย Losย Angeles office with in-person presenceย required.ย ย 
  • The LA28 office is an open-plan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment.ย ย 
  • The majority ofย work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time sitting, standing, using computers, phones, and other office equipment, and attending in-person meetings.ย ย 
  • Ability to work extended hours during critical build milestones and Games-time preparationsย ย ย ย ย ย ย 
  • Flexibleย availability, including evenings, weekends, and event daysย 
  • Ability to stand, walk, and work on-site for extended periods

The annual base salary range for this position is $88,000.00 - $115,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28's operational business needs and applicable law.
