About the Agency: The Mississippi Gaming Commission (MGC) is charged with enforcing the law and regulation of all casinos and charitable bingo operations with regard to the Mississippi Gaming Control Act and Charitable Bingo Act. The MGC seeks to maintain the integrity of the gaming industry in Mississippi. This is achieved in a two-fold method: (1) Maintain the integrity of the gaming property and (2) Maintain the integrity of the gaming patron.
About the Position: This position works within the Enforcement Division of the agency, and the position is located in the Biloxi office. Many of the responsibilities of the agents are performed during routine monitoring visits to the casinos in their respective district. The Enforcement Division is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of casinos and ensuring they comply with statutes from the Gaming Control Act and follow the regulations outlined by the MGC. Enforcement Agents monitor the licensed casinos in the state on a routine basis to ensure their operations comply with the statutes as well as rules and regulations approved by the Commission. Agents are required to inspect and examine all premises where gaming is conducted or where the devices and equipment are manufactured, sold, or distributed. Agents are also responsible for inspecting all equipment and/or supplies on or about the premises of a licensee. The Enforcement Division is responsible for responding to patron complaints/disputes with casinos. Complaints/disputes include the operation of slot machines, gaming table activity, and disputes over alleged winnings, etc. The Division is further responsible for the investigation of any suspected criminal activity within licensed casinos. Agents may also testify in court or hearings.
What you'll need to be Successful: The ability to work well with others and an understanding of the laws regulating the gaming industry in Mississippi are needed to be successful.
Preferred Qualifications: Typically requires 60 semester hours of college, possession of a State of Mississippi Law Enforcement Professional Certification and 2-4 years of experience in law enforcement.
