Oneida Innovations Group is part of the largest employer in Madison and Oneida counties.

We are currently seeing an IT Systems Engineering Manager to join our growing IT and Innovation team.

Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Effectively plans, schedules, and assigns work to all Systems Engineers; consistently monitoring the overall function of the team. Ensures proper training of staff.
  • Independently reviews, plans, and evaluates operating systems required administration and provides assistance and support to Systems Engineers. This includes performing proactive monitoring practices and preparing proposals on upgrades needed to keep a stable, available, and reliable operating environment in place.
  • Demonstrates experience with installs and configurations to maintain the organization's servers and operating systems. Follows and promotes the development life cycle process, ensuring that Change Management practices are adhered to.
  • Ensures during "emergency and high" problem events that the pertinent System Engineering resources are working on the issues and any status updates are given to the Director of Infrastructure Engineering in a timely fashion.
  • Is proactive in providing and promoting the importance of documentation, accurate records of work performed, project tracking, and management reporting. Reviews documentation provided by Systems Engineers for accuracy and quality.
  • Coordinates ongoing maintenance of the servers and operating systems.
  • Demonstrates experience in creating and maintaining strong teamwork ethic relationships, working with other networking and engineering team members to implement necessary changes, upgrades and enhancements to the systems.
  • Experienced partnering with Applications Group to develop a clear understanding of systems philosophies and strategies to support the IT mission.
  • Responsible for the high-quality maintenance and administration of the Casino's primary revenue-generating gaming system; this includes taking appropriate proactive measures and performing daily monitoring of the Unix Server to ensure the stability, availability, and reliability of the property's main revenue-generating system.
  • Mandatory 24/7 on-call support for responsible systems, this includes trouble-shooting root cause of issues, i.e. hardware, operating system, or application issue, and determining action plan and making a judgment call on the required resource needed for resolution, i.e. IBM Advance Support, Applications Support, etc. Off-hours support is handled remotely, however, a judgment call is required to determine when it is necessary to be on-site, as well as, escalating issues to executive management.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • A degree in Computer Science or other related technical field and/or minimum equivalent experience of six or more years working in an IT environment.
  • One year of leadership experience in an IT environment is a plus.
  • Familiarity with cloud services (Azure) is a definite plus.
  • Highly experienced in managing a multi-server distributed environment or distributed network.
  • Experience with VMWare, Nutanix, and other Hypervisor tools
  • Experience with the following operating systems; Windows 200x, AS/400, AIX, Linux, and UNIX.
  • Understanding of Active Directory, VMware, IBM SAN/disk technologies, and networking is a must.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and writing skills and the ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Demonstrated experience working with gaming and/or hospitality systems
