We welcome motivated and academically driven risk management college students local to Tampa, Florida, to participate in our intensive 10-week Summer MSI Insurance Claims Rotational Internship Program. This unparalleled opportunity is specially crafted for early-career professionals eager to explore the world of insurance and claims.

In addition to interacting with top C-suite professionals during intern enrichment sessions, you will also get the unique chance to take part in meetings, technology integration/implementation, mentorship opportunities, data & analytics, and gain practical hands-on experience through shadowing professionals within our dynamic insurance products.

What You'll Do:

As a claims intern, you will provide support across the claims process starting with the First Notice of Loss (FNOL), gaining hands-on exposure to how coverage is evaluated using real-time claim information. You will assist with key projects, including system updates, integrations, and implementations, and help build new reports while developing an understanding of the data and analytics that drive the department. To round out your experience, you will also complete rotations with department leadership, operations/support, training, and Quality Improvement (QI), among other areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support with First Notice of Loss (FNOL) intake and related processes.
  • Assist with system updates, integrations, and implementation projects within the claims department.
  • Help build and develop new reports to support data and analytics initiatives.
  • Develop new processes and tools that will help drive efficiencies.
  • Complete rotations with department leadership, operations/support, training, QI, and other functional areas.
  • Assist in reviewing and analyzing claim forms, policies, endorsements, and other records to understand how coverage determinations are made.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a recognized college program with a focus on risk management or a related field, and be local to Tampa, Florida.
  • A demonstrated passion for risk management and insurance.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work well in a team and collaborate with various levels of the organization.
  • The capacity to work independently while fostering a positive group dynamic.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
