We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Power BI & Analytics Intern to join our BIS (Business Intelligence & Systems) team. The intern will assist in building, maintaining, and optimizing Power BI dashboards and reports that provide key business insights to internal stakeholders across manufacturing, supply chain, finance, quality, and operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in data visualization, business analysis, ETL development, and real-world data problem solving in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The intern will work directly with the BIS team and collaborate with leaders across the company to deliver solutions that drive measurable business impact.

Working hours will be scheduled around the intern's class schedule, but must be the same days and hours each week. The intern is expected to confirm their weekly schedule with their manager within two weeks of their start date.***Candidate must be lawful permanent resident or US Citizen and be able to work on site in Ann Arbor, MI


  • Assist in designing and developing interactive Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations that surface key business metrics to internal stakeholders.
  • Clean, transform, and analyze large datasets from various sources including SQL Server, Excel, SharePoint lists, and other enterprise systems.
  • Collaborate with business units, IT, and BIS team members to gather requirements, clarify data needs, and deliver visualizations that drive decision-making.
  • Support the development of data models (star schema), DAX measures, and standardized business metrics aligned to the company scorecard and metric glossary.
  • Contribute to data pipelines, ETL processes, and automation efforts under guidance from senior BIS team members.
  • Perform data validation, reconciliation, and troubleshooting on existing reports to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Document datasets, transformations, business logic, and processes; contribute to best practices in dashboard design, data governance, and lineage tracking.
  • Use Jira to manage work items, track progress, and collaborate with the team; publish documentation and updates to SharePoint.

Required
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Must either be a US Citizen or have a valid green card
  • Working knowledge of Power BI (Desktop and Service), including report creation, data modeling, and basic DAX.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL Server and ability to write SELECT queries, joins, filters, and aggregations.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint for document management and collaboration.
  • Familiarity with Jira (or similar work management tools) for tracking tasks and stories.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, Power Query).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; able to translate business questions into data requirements.
  • Self-starter who can manage multiple priorities and work independently with guidance.
Preferred
  • Exposure to Power Query (M) and intermediate DAX measures.
  • Familiarity with ETL concepts, data warehousing, and star schema modeling.
  • Experience with Power Automate, Power Apps, or the broader Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Exposure to MES, ERP, or manufacturing data environments.
  • Coursework or projects involving data visualization, statistics, or business analysis.
  • Understanding of data governance, lineage, and metric standardization concepts.
