As a gallery manager, your job is to manage an art space and ensure there is a show for people to see as frequently as possible. As part of this, you meet with artists, discuss the needs of an exhibition, decide which artwork should go on display, and plan each event at the facility. This is a management position, but your actual responsibilities may vary by location. Our renowned collection includes over 160,000 works of art, from the ancient world to today. Admission to the West and East Buildings, Sculpture Garden, special exhibitions, and public programs is always free.
Qualifications:Master’s degree in a related field
OR
Specialized Experience Statement: Candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent in responsibility to the GS-07 level in the Federal service or private sector, providing day-to-day administrative and operational support to a press and communications office in an art museum; establishing and maintaining project management systems; managing payments and budgets; managing data collection and analysis; monitoring and documenting media coverage AND assisting a department head in administrative matters.
