Job Description:
Individual contributors who provide support services to complete daily business activities (e.g. administrative, clerical, technical, production or trade levels.) The majority of time is spent in the delivery of services or activities, typically under supervision. Opportunities for progression outside of this career track typically require experience, additional education, and/or licensure/certification.
This job family is responsible for all of the steps involved in getting products from suppliers to customers. Activities include work associated with obtaining goods and services for all types of business processes; finished goods demand inventory planning and production planning & control to achieve targeted quality, wastage, and inventory levels; movement, storage, and inventory control of materials, finished goods, tools, and packaging materials; import/export & customs management. Freight forwarding services roles are included in this job family.
Positions in this sub-family are responsible for the storage and movement of materials and finished goods including: shipping & receiving; warehousing; order filling, picking, and packing; executing inventory control processes & records management; dispatch; developing transport schedules, methods, and routes; analyzing and projecting transportation costs; operating low complexity motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment; maintaining, loading, packing, and driving vehicles; evaluating, selecting, and managing ongoing relationships with external transport providers (e.g., fuel suppliers, trucking / shipping companies, etc.); and acquiring and managing fleet vehicles.

  • Candidate will need a valid driver's license to potentially drive the company van between Blacksburg facilities.
  • Individual contributor that applies broad knowledge of systems and procedures acquired through several years of experience to address issues; may provide guidance to other employees.
