Job description

Job Summary Provides operational and guest service support for events hosted at Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) venues, including the Grapevine Convention Center, Palace Arts Center, Fairway Events Center and Grapevine Main. Assists with event setup and breakdown, guest services, ticketing, catering, concessions and audiovisual support while working closely with Event Coordinators and clients to ensure events are executed smoothly and guests receive an exceptional experience. Assist with maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and readiness of event facilities before, during, and after events.

Essential Functions 1. Provides exceptional customer service to clients, guests and visitors to ensure a positive and memorable event experience. 2.

Assists with the setup, breakdown of tables, chairs and meeting equipment, assist with general preparation of event spaces at CVB venues. 3. Assists Event Coordinators, clients, and vendors with event needs and operational support.

4. Operates and assists with audio-visual equipment and basic event technology as needed. 5.

Performs box office operations, including selling tickets and assisting guests with purchases. 6. Works concession areas when assigned, handling cash and credit card transactions and providing customer service to guests.

7. Assists with food and beverage prep, service and cleanup for events. 8.

Performs usher duties, including greeting guests and directing them to seating or event areas. 9. Answers phones, assists with general inquiries, and supports administrative or front-of-house needs as required.

10. Monitors events and facilities, occasionally working independently at assigned CVB venues. 11.

Maintains the cleanliness, organization, and readiness of event facilities before, during, and after events. Including but not limited to: Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing and polishing floors, removing trash from offices, common areas and kitchen facility, clean lavatories, rest rooms, including replenishing towels, soaps and tissue. 12.

Works irregular hours including evenings and weekends. 13. Maintains professionalism when interacting with the public, coworkers, vendors, and clients.

14. Maintains regular and reliable attendance to support scheduled events and operations. 15.

Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position. 16. Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.

17. Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers, and others in the course of daily work. Required Skills Ability to work well with people.

Must have good oral communication skills and be able to deliver excellent customer service. Ability to work flexible schedules as needed for weekends, evenings, holidays, special events and programs. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to use iPad and perform basic math functions. Must be able to lift 45 lbs. and work inside and outside in all kinds of weather as required.

Must have the physical ability to set up and tear down tables/chairs and partitions, along with cleaning of all facilities. Must have good communication and interpersonal skills, tact, patience and courtesy. Must enjoy working with the public in a hospitality atmosphere.

Must have reliable transportation. Must be able to work for long hours and stand for extended periods of time. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS Minimum age 18.

Knowledge of audio visual equipment and food and beverage experience preferred. Hotel and supervisory experience preferred. Must be willing to work irregular schedule.

Must have or be able to obtain a food handler's certification within 30 days of hire date or promotion and maintain during employment. Must pass a Federal/National criminal background check and credit check. Must pass a pre-employment basic physical, drug screen, and a functional assessment screening (Level 1).

WORKING CONDITIONS While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is rarely exposed to disagreeable environmental factors. There will be occasional exposure to outdoor weather elements as the position requires working outdoors during CVB sponsored events throughout the normal course of the year. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This job requires the ability to work in an office environment where the noise level is usually moderate.
