At Mad Science, we are having a blast! Through a blend of education and entertainment, you will lead students through inquiry-based discovery methods involving instructor demonstrations, hands-on activities, and amazing take-home projects that will illustrate how science affects the world around us, inspiring the next generation of scientists.
We are looking for HIGHLY ENERGETIC, DYNAMIC AND CONFIDENT individuals to join our growing team to conduct exciting programming. You do not need to be a certified teacher, but experience working with groups of elementary-aged students is preferred.
Specifically looking for folks with availability on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday!
Responsibilities:
- Facilitating day camps, in-person workshops, and after-school science enrichment programs for children from preschool through elementary school
- Deliver hands on, high-energy, part entertainment/part education programs that meet for one hour each week for approximately 8-12 weeks.
- Attend paid training sessions virtually or at our office.
- Available to come in-person to warehouse in Glendale every 2-3 weeks for material exchanges
- Be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Be on time for all scheduled activities.
- Adhere to strict safety and cleanliness guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Experience teaching/ working with groups of elementary-age (4-12) children (such as an after-school teacher or camp counselor).
- Be at least 18 years old
- Available a minimum of three consistent weekdays from 12-5pm (15-hours)
While this is a part-time position, it is critical that you are able to commit to the length of any given program (school season, camp session, after-school program, etc.), and that you are able to give us steady weekly availability.
- Have an insured, personal vehicle as you will be transporting equipment and conducting programs at schools and organizations across Los Angeles County and various Southern California locations
- Meet bi-monthly to exchange class materials in Glendale (Los Angeles)
- Minimum of 1 year of college suggested. Degrees and/or graduate degrees are a plus.
- THEATRE EXPERIENCE IS A PLUS!

This is a part-time position and is somewhat seasonal, as we follow the school year.
Pay for all Areas of Business (AOB) is hourly - including set-up and clean-up time.
Starting pay is $22.00-$25.00 per hour DOE, plus mileage compensation!
I understand that, if hired, my employment will be at will, meaning that either I or the Company may terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause or advance notice, subject to applicable law.
