Job description

Spanish Immersion Teacher – After-School Enrichment ProgramCreative STEAM Academy | Laguna Woods, CA
Part-Time | Monday–Thursday | 2:00–4:00 p.m.

Are you a creative teacher who is excited to share a second language through movement, conversation, art, games, and hands-on experiences?
Creative STEAM Academy is seeking an energetic and passionate Spanish Immersion Teacher to lead our after-school Spanish enrichment program for elementary grades.
We are looking for someone who can make learning Spanish feel natural, joyful, and meaningful. Lessons should bring the language to life through project-based learning, art, theatre, sports, games, songs, movement, storytelling, and real-world conversation.
This is not a traditional, worksheet-based Spanish class. Students should be speaking, listening, creating, building, acting, playing, moving, and using Spanish throughout each class.
About the Spanish Immersion Program

Our after-school Spanish immersion program meets Monday through Thursday from 2:15–4:00 p.m. Each day may feature a different theme or activity, while Spanish remains the primary language used in the classroom.
Students learn vocabulary, listening comprehension, and conversational Spanish through meaningful activities such as:
  • Hands-on projects and collaborative challenges
  • Art, painting, drawing, building, and creative design
  • Theatre, storytelling, skits, and role-playing
  • Sports, movement, songs, and interactive games
  • Real-life conversations and practical language activities
The goal is to help students become comfortable understanding and speaking Spanish while participating in engaging, age-appropriate experiences.
Responsibilities

The Spanish Immersion Teacher will:
  • Plan and lead engaging Spanish immersion lessons for Grades 2-5
  • Use Spanish as the primary language of instruction
  • Teach vocabulary and conversation through art, theatre, sports, games, songs, movement, and hands-on projects
  • Design creative, project-based activities that encourage students to use Spanish naturally
  • Create a fun, welcoming, active, and structured classroom environment
  • Help students develop confidence in speaking, listening, and understanding Spanish
  • Prepare simple lesson materials and classroom activities
  • Keep students engaged, motivated, and actively participating

Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate is:
  • Fluent or highly proficient in Spanish
  • Creative, energetic, warm, and enthusiastic
  • Passionate about teaching Spanish through immersion and hands-on learning
  • Experienced working with children
  • Comfortable leading art, theatre, sports, games, movement, and group activities
  • Able to make Spanish engaging, accessible, and fun for students at different ability levels
  • Skilled at keeping students engaged, motivated, and on task
  • Patient, positive, dependable, and professional
  • Comfortable creating an immersive, primarily Spanish-speaking classroom
Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous teaching, tutoring, youth-program, or classroom experience
  • California teaching credential or equivalent teaching credential
  • Experience with Spanish immersion, dual-language, or bilingual education
  • Experience with art, theatre, sports, music, movement, games, or project-based learning
  • Experience working in homeschool, private-school, after-school, camp, or enrichment programs
