This role provides comprehensive mental health services—including evaluations, diagnosis, medication management, and ongoing treatment planning—while collaborating closely with an interdisciplinary care team to ensure seamless, whole-person care. Position Summary

The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) provides comprehensive, evidence based psychiatric care to patients through a secure, fully virtual care platform. This role is responsible for conducting psychiatric evaluations, diagnosing mental health conditions, managing psychiatric medications, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary behavioral health team to deliver high quality, patient centered treatment.


This position is designed as fulltime preferred; however, highly qualified candidates may be considered for engagement as a 1099 independent contractor based on experience, licensure coverage, and organizational needs. Clinical services are delivered entirely via telehealth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations using evidence-based assessment tools.
  • Diagnose and treat a wide range of mental health conditions, including but not limited to anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, eating disorders, OCD, substance use disorders, ADHD, and personality disorders.
  • Prescribe, manage, and monitor psychiatric medications in accordance with clinical guidelines and state regulations, assessing treatment effectiveness, side effects, and patient adherence.
  • Develop, implement, and adjust individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary clinical team.
  • Coordinate care with therapists and other healthcare providers, including referrals to additional services when clinically appropriate.
  • Provide patient education related to diagnoses, treatment options, and prescribed medications.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and thorough clinical documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable legal, ethical, and organizational standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support continuous clinical excellence within a virtual care environment.

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Current Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification.
  • Active Nurse Practitioner (NP) and Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in applicable states.
  • Multistate licensure preferred, with primary clinical focus on Maryland (MD), Virginia (VA), and Washington, DC.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience practicing as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
  • Strong clinical knowledge of psychiatric disorders and evidence-based treatment approaches.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in psychiatric medication management.
  • Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport in a virtual care setting.
  • Commitment to delivering compassionate, culturally responsive, and patient centered care.
  • Comfort with telehealth technologies and remote clinical workflows.
  • Availability for fulltime clinical practice preferred; contractor arrangements may be considered based on experience and organizational need.


Licensure & Credentialing Requirements

  • The PMHNP must maintain active licensure, DEA registration, and prescribing authority in all states where patients are served.
  • Primary clinical coverage includes Maryland (MD), Virginia (VA), and Washington, DC.
  • Clinicians are responsible for maintaining all required credentials and complying with applicable state and federal regulations.
