Job description

New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co., Inc (NESL) is looking for a Concrete Quality Control Technician to support our Buffalo Ready-Mixed Concrete operations. This position will be responsible for ensuring the quality and consistency of our concrete products. Your role will involve performing various tests, maintaining records, and collaborating with our production team to uphold our commitment to excellence. Individuals who may not have experience or certifications are still encouraged to apply.
The starting hourly rate is over $24.00/hr and individuals with experience and certifications may be considered for a higher entry level rate.

RMC Quality Control Technician - What Will You Do?

  • Sample and test correctly raw materials (aggregates, concrete, etc.) for compliance with specifications ranging from American Concrete Institute (ACI), commercial, residential, NYSDOT and other municipal codes and standards.

  • Conduct concrete tests including slump, air content, temperature, and unit weight.

  • Conduct aggregate tests including free moistures, cleanness, and gradations

  • Maintain detailed records of test results and production data.

  • Learn to complete all necessary documentation/record keeping requirements for testing and be basic computer literate to input into our data base.

  • Monitor concrete production and aggregate stockpiles to ensure adherence to quality standards.

  • Collaborate with production and other company teams to address any quality issues and concerns.

  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and calibration.

  • Ensure compliance with governing safety regulations and company policies.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, associate or bachelor's degree additional technical training or certification is a plus.

  • Previous experience in concrete and aggregate testing or a related field is helpful.

  • Strong understanding of concrete properties and quality control procedures.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and specifications.

  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Valid driver's license and compliant with NESL driving standards.

  • Willingness and ability to obtain additional certifications as required. Additional certifications and training programs will be available over the course of employment.

  • Must be available for early mornings, late nights, and Saturdays as required, in addition to a typical Monday-Friday schedule.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
