DescriptionGeneral Summary:To machine precision aerospace components according to customer specifications while adhering to specific quality, production, and scheduling requirements. This position is available in first and second shift.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: - Able to read and understand work instructions such as, fixture alignment, tooling info and part loading instructions.
- Set-up and operate CNC lathe or multi-axis milling machining centers according to engineering specifications, instructions,
- GD&T, and operation sheets. Knowledge of manual machines is a plus.
- Be able to pick up work offsets and tram tools to run true.
- Understand cutter compensation and can make the correct offset adjustment to ensure a quality part.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures and tool holders for a given job.
- Perform basic edits to G code to ensure product conformity.
- Read and interpret engineering instructions, travelers, and blueprints and be familiar with geometric tolerances and principles.
- Must perform routine maintenance on assigned production equipment, i.e., maintain cleanliness of work area and machinery, check machinery fluids and alert maintenance personnel and/or supervisor of malfunctions.
- Operate lifting and handling equipment such as hand truck, pallet jack, or overhead hoist to maneuver in-process or finished components to desired location.
Position RequirementsRequired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Knowledgeable of in-process inspection techniques, standards, and requirements. Able to use and interpret precision
- measuring devices such as micrometers, verniers, and various hand tools, i.e., gauges to verify the accuracy of dimensional characteristics of components.
- Knowledge of metal characteristics in a production setting is desirable.
- Knowledge of programming codes is helpful.
- Machinists must have good verbal and written communication skills; good math skills and good interpersonal skills.
- Must work well with colleagues, supervision and management.
- Ability to work and problem solve independently.
Education & Experience Required: - 3-5 years CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace.
- Fully capable of reading, understanding, and following written and oral work instructions in English.
- Ability to lift or transfer components or objects of no more than 50 pounds.
- Basic math skills.
