THE POSITION
Are you interested in protecting Pennsylvania's wildlife and shaping the future of conservation? The Pennsylvania Game Commission is looking for a Wildlife Biologist 3 to oversee major programs that support healthy ecosystems. This position gives you the chance to work with partners, staff, and landowners to improve habitats on both public and private lands. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this role, you will lead statewide habitat partnership efforts to support wildlife conservation and improve habitat conditions. Work involves guiding projects, collaborations, and scientific work that helps protect wildlife resources. As a Wildlife Biologist 3, you will perform the following duties:
  • Program Leadership: Oversee statewide habitat partnership operations and guide conservation activities
  • Project Coordination: Direct habitat management projects and support staff across regions
  • Technical Guidance: Prepare materials and advise partners and landowners on wildlife habitat practices
  • Agency Collaboration: Work with federal, state, and local agencies and conservation groups on habitat programs
  • Training Delivery: Develop and provide trainings and workshops on habitat and wildlife management
  • Data and Reporting: Analyze habitat data and prepare reports, proposals, and publications for agency needs

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:45 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 45-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, upon successful completion of the required 6-month probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year of experience as a Wildlife Biologist 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of technical wildlife research and evaluation experience and three years of professional experience in wildlife management research, and thirty-six college credits in wildlife management, wildlife biology, animal or plant ecology, zoology, botany, or a closely related field, and six college credits in statistics or biometry; or
  • Three years of professional experience in wildlife management research, and a bachelor's degree that includes thirty-six college credits in wildlife management, wildlife biology, animal or plant ecology, zoology, botany, or a closely related field, and six college credits in statistics or biometry; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes thirty-six college credits in wildlife management, wildlife biology, animal or plant ecology, zoology, botany, or a closely related field, and six college credits in statistics or biometry.

Special Requirements:
  • This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.

Other Requirements:
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
