WIC Nutritionist in Middlesex County
The Children and Family Health Institute (CFHI) is a charitable, nonprofit program of VNA Health Group focused on improving the health and well-being of children and families through accessible, community-based care. CFHI delivers high-impact programs including nutrition support, preventive screenings, vaccinations, and inclusive health services through community health centers and mobile outreach. Our goal is to strengthen scale and stability while advancing a mission that creates meaningful impact in the community.
Position Summary:
Join our team in Middlesex County supporting the WIC Program and making a real difference in the health and well-being of families. As the full-time WIC Nutritionist, you'll provide personalized nutrition guidance and counseling, connect participants with essential resources, and deliver education in a welcoming, professional environment. You'll collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth clinic operations while using your expertise and interpersonal skills to create meaningful, positive experiences for the community you serve.
Principal Responsibilities:
  • Supports organization's mission by striving for excellence in all aspects of their job with a focus on positive interpersonal relationship with co-workers
  • Delivers a high level of customer service to assure positive patient experience
  • Completes comprehensive nutrition health assessment to determine WIC Program eligibility
  • Assesses needs of WIC participants for special formula
  • Provides nutrition education in appropriate format
  • Develops and maintains network of social services, food and community resources
  • Assesses daily clinic flow and makes adjustments as necessary
  • Adheres to agency infection control and safety policies
  • Adheres to the organization's policy in regards to absenteeism and appearance

Job Competencies & Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS in Dietetics, Food and Nutrition from accredited Plan IV, V or Didactic Program of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics OR Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
  • Approval from NJ State WIC Office required
  • Experience with culturally diverse population
  • Strong communication, customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Computer experience preferred
  • Valid drivers license and Auto Insurance required

Working Conditions/Physical Demand: Busy clinic environment at various locations in the community; ability to carry/lift 40 lbs.; requires setting up tables and chairs; requires transporting supplies and equipment to WIC clinics; responsible for laptop and related equipment.
In compliance with New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the compensation range for this position is USD $26.00 to USD $34.00. When determining an offer, VNA Health Group considers factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's work experience, education/training, relevant skills, internal pay equity, and market and organizational conditions.
