Job description

Title: Industrial Lab Technician
Location:  Plaquemine, LA
 

Salary: $32.00 - $39.00
Schedule: Rotating shift schedule, 12-hour shifts
 

The Industrial Lab Technician is responsible for conducting and analyzing routine and non-routine samples from Production to ensure the product meets customer specifications. The position prepares solutions for laboratory and production plant applications and maintains, calibrates, and troubleshoots laboratory instrumentation to ensure reliable analytical results and compliance with quality standards. 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Conducts daily routine and non-routine analytical testing of chemical products and reagents, including raw materials, in process, and final product stages using a combination of wet chemistry and instrumental and analytical techniques.
  • Uses a range of methods from standard and well-established routines to specially adapted processes.
  • Prepares standardized lab reagents for lab and plant use.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Records data, observations, and conclusions in spreadsheets and databases. 


Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must meet one of the following experience or education requirements:
    • Associate or Bachelor Degree* in Chemistry or science-related discipline
    • High school diploma or equivalent and 2+ years of work experience in related role
    • Military enlisted occupational specialist of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Lab Technician)
  • Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment strongly preferred, including preparing samples and performing high-purity analyses, interpreting analytical data using statistical tools, making or recommending adjustments based on findings, and making reporting decisions in accordance with established specification parameters.
  • Knowledge of basic laboratory instrumentation and ability to troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on laboratory equipment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, creative problem-solving abilities, exceptional attention to detail, and ability to effectively interact and collaborate with employees at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to work all applicable shifts including but not limited to weekends, holidays, overtime, and call-ins when support is needed.
  • Must possess a valid US driver's license and be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
