Job Function: Finance | Tax

Job Summary: The Financial Analyst - Indirect Tax must possess an understanding of sales/use tax and property tax laws and regulations, combined with strong analytical skills and attention to detail. In addition to the tax duties, this position will be the primary contact for any tax related requests from the RBC Corporate Tax Department and will be responsible for the accounting treatment of the company's leases as well as monitoring the Vertex tax software. Preparation of month end journal entries and account reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales/Use Tax (Vertex)

  • Monthly filing of sales/use tax returns.
  • Accrue use tax entry and reconciliation (preclose).
  • Monitor tracker for sales tax errors to be corrected.
  • Monitor Vertex and make updates/changes as needed related to sales tax, become SME for VertexVerify sales tax certificates are correct in Vertex.
  • Issue credit memos for customers that have been erroneously charges sales tax once customer has submitted a valid sales tax certificate.
  • Cross train PO creators across Dodge on what is taxable vs non-taxable items.

International Tax

  • VAT filings for new Netherlands warehouse.
  • Work with tax consultants on VAT taxes to verify Dodge is in compliance with local guidelines.

Leases

  • Enter new leases into Tagetik for all Dodge locations.
  • Lease to PRD recon in Tagetik.
  • Post lease entry for U.S. and monitor international locations lease entry.
  • Initiate lease and CAM payments.

Property Tax Returns

  • Filing of property tax returns annually.
  • Accrue real/personal property tax entry and reconciliation.
  • Submit payments for property taxes and perform true up of accrual.

Business license renewal

Fixed Assets

  • Manage fixed assets for capitalizations, disposals, transfers, and monthly depreciation entry within SAP Asset Module.
  • Monitor fixed asset cycle counts to verify compliance with internal controls.
  • Reconcile asset subledger to GL and prepare Schedule 10 for Tagetik.
  • Verify asset locations are up to date for property tax purposes.

Commissions/Bonus Buster (Vistex)

  • Record commissions accrual and bonus buster accrual thru Vistex and submit payroll file for approval.
  • Work with Sales team on obtaining annual sales quotas to load into Vistex.
  • Assist payroll with questions on commissions/bonus buster.

Miscellaneous Tasks

  • Approve check run.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests and SOX narratives.
  • Various non-tax miscellaneous month end entries:
    • Utility accrual
    • Employee relocation accrual
    • Prepaid expenses
    • MOTUS accrual
  • Lead contact for annual tax package working with RBC Corp Tax.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in accounting or finance from an accredited university.
  • 0-5 years of general accounting experience, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
  • Exposure to sales/use tax and property tax returns preferred.
  • SOX/Internal controls experience preferred.
  • Intermediate skill level of Microsoft Excel.
  • SAP experience a plus.
  • Vertex and Vistex experience a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that can confidently interact with all positions within the company.
  • Clear and concise oral and written communication skills.
  • Be able to research and come to conclusions based on tax and accounting regulations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Extended periods of sitting at a workstation.
  • Speaking in person and over the telephone or Teams online and the ability to hear, comprehend, and document detailed information from others.
  • Ability to type, reach and grasp.
  • Intermittent standing and walking within the office environment.
