Description
The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, University of Washington, seeks an Anatomic Pathologist/Cytopathologist to join our Cytopathology subspecialty service on the clinical practice track. The primary clinical service responsibilities will be case sign out in these diagnostic services as well as the associated teaching of medical/PA students, post-sophomore fellows, residents, and fellows. UW AP faculty on these services also participate in intraoperative consultation service/on-call rotations. The successful candidate is expected to interact and foster relationships with clinicians and participate in interdisciplinary conferences associated with these services.
Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, ability to participate in other subspecialty services, including Gynecologic pathology, GI Pathology, Breast Pathology, and GU Pathology.
This appointment may be at the rank of Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice, Associate Professor of Clinical Practice or Professor of Clinical Practice.Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank.
Faculty on the clinical practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure. The initial period for the Professor of Clinical Practice appointment will be 3 years. Multi-year renewal of the faculty appointment is contingent upon satisfactory performance, the needs of the department, availability of resources, and in accordance with university policy and procedure governing reappointment. This position is full-time, non-tenured, and remains open until filled with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2026, but is flexible.
The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professors: $22,023 to $26,494 per month ($264,276 to $317,928 annually); Associate Professors: $25,818 to $30,874 per month ($309,816 to $370,488 annually); Professors: $30,360 to $36,921 per month ($364,320 to $443,052 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess an MD or DO (or foreign equivalent), be board certified in anatomic pathology and cytopathology, and have completed a formal Cytopathology Fellowship training program. The candidate must have expertise in GI pathology as well. Must qualify for a license to practice medicine in Washington State. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H1-B visa, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the US Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
