Full Time UPS Line Haul Drivers are professional truck drivers responsible for transporting packages and freight between major UPS facilities, typically covering long distances on highways. Unlike local delivery drivers, line haul drivers operate tractor-trailers and focus on scheduled routes between distribution centers rather than making residential or business deliveries. Their work plays a crucial role in keeping UPS’s logistics network running efficiently by ensuring timely movement of goods across regions. These positions often require a commercial driver’s license (CDL) and adherence to strict safety and regulatory standards.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of a full time UPS line haul driver and how do they differ from local delivery roles?

As a Full Time UPS Line Haul Driver, your main responsibility is transporting freight over long distances between UPS facilities, rather than making local deliveries to individual customers. A typical day involves pre-trip vehicle inspections, driving set routes between hubs, and ensuring timely and secure movement of packages. Unlike local delivery drivers, you will spend most of your shift on highways and interstates, often driving overnight or across state lines. Collaboration is key, as you'll coordinate with dispatchers, dock workers, and other drivers to ensure smooth transfers and on-time departures.
