This position qualifies for a $20,000 commitment incentive which will be paid over a three (3) year work commitment.

Equal installments will be paid after each six (6) months of work completed.

Summary:

The Congenital Cardiovascular Sonographer utilizes radiologic sciences technology to perform a range of patient care, technical, and diagnostic tasks aimed at treating patients with cardiovascular disease. This role specifically focuses on adults with a history of congenital conditions. Key responsibilities include conducting ultrasound imaging, preparing patients, providing post-procedure care, setting up and cleaning procedure rooms, generating technical reports, and monitoring quality.

Hours: 8:00am - 4:30pm; no on call or weekends

Responsibilities:
Provides pre-procedure and post-procedure patient care, including patient assessment, emergency cardiac care (CPR required), and assistance with post-procedure transport.
Ensures daily calibration and maintenance of equipment, performs and records all maintenance and quality assurance checks, troubleshoots equipment issues, and reports problems to the appropriate supervisor or biomedical engineering.
Generates ultrasound images of the heart and vascular structures, performs advanced cardiac ultrasound studies for patients with complex conditions, and regularly conducts multiple study types across varied anatomical areas.
Provides staff training and education, serving as a subject matter expert and resource for Cardiovascular Sonographers.
Monitors and records patient information, maintains report storage and data systems, compiles and enters data for charge entry, prepares reports, and retrieves stored information and reports from the automated storage system.
Prepares procedure rooms and equipment for daily use, ensuring timely and efficient room preparation between procedures.
Assists in maintaining UNCs accreditation as an Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program by helping create protocols and participating in annual meetings to discuss performance and quality.

Education Requirements:
Associates degree in Sonography, Radiology or a related field within 3 months of hire, OR Completion of a twelve (12) month ultrasound program within 3 months of hire.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Must be a Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS), which is offered by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), at the time of start.
Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or registry eligible and become registered within one (1) year from date of hire. Must maintain registry status and continuing education requirements annually.
Professional Experience Requirements:
One year minimum experience in acute hospital setting.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
Expertise in ultrasound imaging techniques and protocols.
In-depth understanding of the heart and vascular system.
Knowledge of congenital heart conditions and their implications.
Proficiency in using ultrasound and other diagnostic equipment.
Ability to perform and interpret complex cardiac ultrasound studies .
Skill in troubleshooting equipment issues and identifying solutions.
Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills to interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
Ability to build rapport with patients and work effectively within a healthcare team.
Capability to train staff and serve as a resource for other sonographers.
