Full-Time SAT/ACT Tutor

Location: Bernardsville (or potentially Short Hills), New Jersey, United States (Must be physically available to be IN our office)

RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

  • Teaching ALL SECTIONS - MATH and VERBAL for both the SAT and ACT tests
  • Conducting lessons with students in private one-on-one sessions and occasionally in a small group setting
  • Establishing academic goals and milestones with students and stakeholders
  • Preparing a customized lesson plan for each student in advance
  • Discussing student progress with each student, their family, and other stakeholders, including providing recommendations and an action plan for improvement
  • Submitting an accurate session log and completing a summary for all lessons you lead
  • Attending all company and team meetings, as required
  • Attending bi-monthly check-in meetings with directors
  • Maintaining current knowledge in each subject area where instruction is carried out
  • Participating in relevant professional development for the subject matter
  • Taking ACT/SAT Mock Tests to maintain up-to-date knowledge

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be local or able to commute - able to work in-person from our office in Bernardsville (or possibly Short Hills), NJ
  • Ability to work 1 weekend day and 4 weekday evenings (see sample schedule posted below)
  • Bachelor’s Degree (a plus if it's in a subject or related field for instruction)
  • Prior experience with SAT/ACT tutoring is highly preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of core educational subjects, especially math and verbal topics on the SAT and ACT
  • Must enjoy working with middle school through college-age students
  • Highly self-motivated, strong work ethic, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • High Proficiency with pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, advanced math, and, problem solving & data analysis
  • Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics, and Economics are a plus
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to take initiative and to work independently and within a team

COMPENSATION:

  • Base salary + bonuses:
    • Average earnings:
      • Tutors who teach 30+ hours per week can earn $75,000+ per year.
      • Tutors who choose to teach 40+ hours can generally earn $100,000+ per year.

Typical Schedule:

Sept-June:

  • Monday-Thursday: 3 pm-11 pm
