Your work environment at EXP

In this role, you will be a part of the Site Civil team based in Chicago, Miami, or Atlanta with consideration for hybrid work arrangements. The professional will focus on Site Civil/Land Development projects supporting the Buildings, Telecommunications, and Mission Critical practices nationally.  Project types and clients will vary with opportunities to be involved in projects across the United States. 

 What a day at EXP has in store for you

  • Prepares engineering analysis, designs, and calculations for various aspects of site development projects under the supervision of an engineering manager.
  • Designs grading and drainage elements for site improvements.
  • Properly coordinates utility conflict resolutions and designs utility piping systems when required.
  • Analyzes site plan layout with attention to pedestrian circulation and vehicle movements.
  • Prepares erosion control documents including permitting and SWPPP submittals.
  • Performs hydrologic and hydraulic calculations for gravity and pressure piping systems.
  • Coordinates with multi-disciplinary teams as needed to finalize all design details.
  • Performs construction assistance related tasks including responding to RFIs (Requests for Information), visiting job sites, reviewing submittals, and coordinating needed revisions (some travel may be required)
  • Works with dynamic design teams including architects, engineers, land use attorneys, surveyors, and contractors.

 What your experience looks like

  • BS Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in a Civil Engineering or related role (site development experience preferred).
  • EIT certification preferred and working towards PE.
  • Ability to problem solve, complete assigned tasks efficiently, and present timely questions to development project/technical understanding.
  • Proficient in using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience in OpenSite Designer is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly in code and permit requirement research applications.
  • Ability to travel for 1-2 day site inspection/meeting trips (one trip per month or less average).
  • Strong self-initiative to meet deadlines and advance projects.

The salary range for this role is $72,000 to $90,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's skill set, experience, certifications, and geographic location. Compensation may vary by location due to differences in the cost of labor.
