The content will be used for recruitment, alumni engagement, and university-wide marketing across all digital platforms.
This role shoots, edits, and outputs both short and long format video/multimedia productions, as well as capturing high-quality institutional photography for distribution to internal and external audiences. Working closely with the University Communications and Marketing (UCM) team, this individual will independently manage photography and video projects from concept to completion, maintain a comprehensive digital archive, and help lead the visual strategy for the university.

The Digital Media Specialist creates compelling videos and photos that showcase campus life, academic excellence, and student success. The content will be used for recruitment, alumni engagement, and university-wide marketing across all digital platforms.
This role shoots, edits, and outputs both short and long format video/multimedia productions, as well as capturing high-quality institutional photography for distribution to internal and external audiences. Working closely with the University Communications and Marketing (UCM) team, this individual will independently manage photography and video projects from concept to completion, maintain a comprehensive digital archive, and help lead the visual strategy for the university.
Key Responsibilities
  • Video Production & Editing: Shoot, edit, and output short and long format video/multimedia productions. Edit video to the required length, caption as needed, and insert supporting B-roll footage and sound to complete each project.
  • Lead University Photography: Act as the photographer for the university, capturing high-quality images of campus life, marketing campaigns, headshots, and institutional needs. Campus Collaboration: Schedule taping and photo sessions with campus constituents including faculty, staff, students, trustees, and alumni. Record interviews to be used as promotional pieces for the university.
  • Archiving & Asset Management: Film, shoot, and maintain an archive of raw video footage and still photography of campus interiors and exteriors from all seasons, as well as special events like convocation and commencement, for use primarily on the web or social media.
  • Strategic Teamwork: Collaborate with the UCM staff-particularly the webmaster, director of creative services, and director of admissions marketing-to determine division priorities and needs. Work closely with staff on strategic planning initiatives.
  • Equipment Management: Responsible for researching and recommending equipment purchases and upgrades to ensure the university can effectively create and distribute modern video, photo, and multimedia content.

Management Preference
  • Camera Operation: Proven experience operating a variety of DSLRstill cameras and HD video cameras for high-end photography and videography.
  • Post-Production: Working knowledge of non-linear editing software, photo editing tools (such as Photoshop and Lightroom), and captioning workflows.
  • Lighting & Audio: Thorough understanding of studio and field lighting tools/equipment, and experience with a variety of audio capture equipment for ENG, documentary, and narrative style productions.
  • Project Management: Capability to plan and execute complex photo and video projects within assigned deadlines with little or no supervision.
  • Talent Direction: Demonstrated ability to direct on-camera talent and interviewees, including inexperienced campus constituents and VIPs.
