Our Lower Columbia Region has an opening for a Forest Engineer on the St. Helens operations team, located in Castle Rock, Washington. This position reports to a St. Helens Engineer Lead, with additional accountabilities to the Region Engineer Manager for forest engineering activities in the area. This is a full-time position with salary level dependent on skills and experience.
Weyerhaeuser's St Helens tree farm has been one of the largest sources of sustainably harvested logs in the Pacific Northwest for over one hundred years. Located in the Kalama and Toutle River Valleys of Southwest Washington, our diverse team of Harvest Managers, Silviculturists and Engineering specialists work together to manage 380,000+ acres of the most productive forest land in the Western United States.
The role is responsible for the planning and management of field engineering activities and requires active involvement in harvest unit and road layout, road construction and road maintenance activities and harvest unit scheduling/planning.

Key Functions:
- Employ professional engineering skills in the planning and field implementation of road layout, road construction, road maintenance, cable/ground-logging systems, and harvest unit layout.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal wildlife, water and forest practice rules/statutes.
- Full participation in the management of expenses and capital budgets.
- Negotiating, preparing, and administering contracts.
- Act as company representative with landowners, government agencies, and community representatives.
- Strong advocate for safety within the team and throughout the operation.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal safety statutes, environmental requirements and Weyerhaeuser resource and stewardship goal

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Forestry or related field with at least 2 years of experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience (at least 5 years)
- Two years of forest engineering experience
- Candidates with northwest regional field experience preferred.
- Must be highly motivated, self-directed, and a team player.
- Familiarity of northwest forest practices rules and permitting processes.
- Ability to interact with state and federal forest practice regulators.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
- Strong analytical skills w/ proficiency in use of personal computers and related software applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and
Geographical Information Systems are highly desirable with desire to learn.
- Valid driver's license is required, as work involves driving company vehicles on rough roads (25,000 miles per year).
- Operational timing or weather constraints may require occasional weekend work.

What We Offer...
Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a compensation range of $58,000 - $113,000 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 5-7% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.
