Job SummaryThe Mississippi Digital Humanities Hub is seeking a post-doctoral scholar to support its mission to serve as a digital humanities resource for the state of Mississippi. This grant funded position, potentially renewable for up to one year, will focus on planning a conference and summer workshop, preparing materials for secondary school instructors, and managing relationships with partner institutions throughout the state.Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Develop, plan and prepare lessons, training guides, and materials for summer workshops hosted by the Mississippi Digital Humanities Hub. The 2027 workshop will be for secondary-education teachers from across Mississippi.
  2. Prepare content experts and staff to teach and support summer workshops.
  3. Lead digital humanities workshops for both internal and statewide partners.
  4. Assist in the development of a statewide network of university and college digital humanities programs.
  5. Assist and support funded DH programs at USM and at partner institutions across the state in conjunction with University Libraries.
  6. Along with Mississippi Digital Humanities Hub staff, plan, organize, and lead a conference on digitalization and the digital humanities for stakeholders in Mississippi.
  7. Adhere to Center for Digital Humanities, Mississippi Digital Humanities Hub, and university policies, procedures, and regulations, and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum QualificationsPhD in a humanities field (English, History, Philosophy), with as least one year's experience working in the digital humanities or DH pedagogy.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Experience working with digital humanities tools, pedagogy, and methods.
  • Experience teaching, with special consideration given to experience teaching digital humanities skills to audiences with a range of experience.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to adjust work based on input and work within a collaborative, team environment.

Preferred QualificationsExperience in workshop and/or conference planning.
Experience with web site or programming.
One-year's teaching experience.
