What is a full time software QA engineer?

A Full Time Software QA (Quality Assurance) Engineer is a professional responsible for testing software applications to ensure they meet quality standards and function as intended. They design, develop, and execute test plans and cases, identify bugs or issues, and collaborate with developers to resolve them. QA Engineers play a crucial role in delivering reliable, user-friendly software by ensuring that products are free from defects before release. Their work helps improve software performance, security, and user experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time software QA engineer?

To thrive as a Full Time Software QA Engineer, you need a solid understanding of software testing methodologies, programming basics, and a relevant degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with automated testing tools (like Selenium or JUnit), bug tracking systems (such as Jira), and scripting languages is typically required, and certifications like ISTQB can be beneficial. Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and strong communication skills help you identify issues, collaborate with developers, and ensure product quality. These competencies are crucial for delivering reliable software, reducing defects, and maintaining customer satisfaction.

What are some common challenges faced by full time software QA engineers when working with cross-functional teams?

Full Time Software QA Engineers often collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and UX designers, which can present challenges such as aligning on testing priorities, understanding rapidly changing requirements, and ensuring timely feedback loops. Effective communication and adaptability are key, as QA engineers must advocate for quality while balancing project deadlines. Building strong relationships and maintaining clear documentation help streamline processes and reduce misunderstandings, ultimately improving software quality.

Job description

Job Description Software QA Engineer/Compliance Location: Pittsburgh, PA - East Area - Candidates must be local to the Pittsburgh area Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without sponsorship About the Opportunity Do you enjoy digging into software, finding issues before customers do, and working directly with developers to make products better. We are seeking a Software QA Engineer for our client to join their development team and help ensure the quality and performance of our web-based engineering software solutions

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys both traditional software testing and finding smarter, more efficient ways to improve the QA process. We're particularly interested in a take-charge, technically curious QA professional who can help expand test automation and introduce innovative approaches to software quality. If you enjoy variety, independence, and the opportunity to take ownership of your work, this could be a great fit.

What You'll Do Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and testing procedures. Create, maintain, and enhance automated test scripts. Identify opportunities to improve QA efficiency through automation and process improvements.

Work closely with the development team throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including design, development, testing, and release. Manage and support QA activities throughout the software release cycle. Identify, document, troubleshoot, and communicate software defects and quality concerns.

Provide technical support and assistance to customers. Write technical content, including articles and blog posts. Review and contribute to product documentation and training materials.

Support product enhancements and other non-coding product initiatives. Collaborate across teams to continually improve overall product quality and the customer experience. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who combines strong QA fundamentals with initiative and problem-solving skills.

You should be comfortable working independently while also collaborating closely with software developers and other team members. Experience with the following would be valuable: Software quality assurance and testing Web-based application testing Automated software testing and test-script development Familiarity with SOC2 Compliance Test planning and test-case development Software development lifecycle methodologies Defect identification, documentation, and troubleshooting Software release and regression testing Technical documentation Customer-facing technical support Why Join Us. This is an opportunity to take on a versatile QA role with a high degree of independence, responsibility, and influence.

Rather than simply executing predefined test scripts, you'll have the opportunity to improve how testing is performed, expand automation, and work directly with the development team to deliver better software. If you're a QA professional who enjoys breaking software, solving problems, improving processes, and ultimately building a better product, we'd like to hear from you.
