We are dedicated to building a championship-caliber organization on and off the pitch. We are passionate about advancing women’s sports, investing in our local community, and redefining the future of professional soccer. As a startup club with a big vision, we’re building from the ground up—and looking for entrepreneurial team members who want to be part of something extraordinary.The RoleWe’re looking for a strategic, creative, and operationally driven leader to oversee our content function end-to-end. The Director of Content will lead a team responsible for social, video, editorial, web/app, matchday content, and integration with creative and marketing. This person must be as comfortable guiding big-picture vision as they are rolling up their sleeves to oversee execution, driving growth in audience engagement, content monetization, and brand equity.They will act as a “mini-media company GM” inside Boston Legacy FC, owning channel strategy, content economics, brand voice, and cross-department alignment, to build deeper and more meaningful connections with fans, sponsors, and media partners.Key Responsibilities*Strategy & Leadership Define and drive a content vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned with club goals (fan growth, brand, revenue, engagement).* Establish KPIs and benchmarks across all content verticals (e.g. viewership, shares, retention, conversion) and ensure alignment with marketing, commercial, and brand objectives.* Build and scale a content organization (hiring, structure, workflows) that can deliver high-frequency, high-quality content across multiple platforms.* Coach, mentor, and develop content team members; build a high performance, collaborative culture.* Partner with internal teams and external partners (league, media, platforms) to align and leverage campaigns, initiatives, and content opportunities.* Oversee team budgeting and resource allocation; identify opportunities for strategic partnerships or outsourcing to boost capacity and efficiency.\_Channel & Platform Oversight\_* Lead strategy and execution across owned and operated (O&O) platforms: website, app, digital newsletter, and any future direct-to-fan platforms.* Oversee social media content across Instagram, TikTok, X (Twitter), YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn ensuring platform-appropriate storytelling and growth.* Lead video teams for both long-form and short-form content (in-studio, documentary, match highlight reels, behind-the-scenes, player features).* Oversee live/streaming content (pre-match, in-match, post-match, press conferences, studio shows) and ensure high production quality.\_Matchday & Game Presentation\_* Coordinate with broadcast, stadium operations, creative, and production teams to deliver a seamless content experience before, during, and after matches.\_Creative Integration & Brand Voice\_* Work hand-in-hand with the Creative/Design team (internal or agency) to ensure visual consistency, motion graphics, photography, design, and video branding.* Ensure all content from snackable social clips to longer narratives carries a consistent tone, voice, and brand identity that resonates with fans of Boston Legacy FC.* Innovate new content formats, episodic series, fan-driven content, and cross-platform storytelling to keep the brand fresh and relevant.\_Commercial & Partnerships\_* Partner with commercial / sponsorship teams to identify content-driven revenue opportunities (branded content, sponsor integration, licensing).* Serve as primary content liaison to league, media partners, advertisers, vendors, and external platforms.* Negotiate and manage contracts with external vendors, agencies, production partners, and freelancers.What We’re Looking For* Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Media, or a related field (Master’s or advanced degree a plus).* 7+ years** of progressive experience in content strategy, content production, or media operations, ideally in sports, entertainment, or digital-first media.* Demonstrated experience building and scaling content teams with both strategic and executional capability.* Strong track record across digital, social, video, editorial, and live content.* Deep understanding of content metrics, analytics, growth KPIs, and audience behavior.* Commercial mindset and experience monetizing content or integrating sponsors/brands.* Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.* Willingness to work non-traditional hours (nights, weekends, holidays), especially on matchdays.* Experience in soccer or understanding of the soccer/media landscape (NWSL, MLS, USL, international) preferred.* Experience managing matchday content or game presentation teams preferred.You’ll be part of a founding team creating a legacy—literally.
