Job description


Position Title: Physical Security Project Manager
Your role
The Physical Security Project Manager works to implement physical security controls to support policies, standards and
initiatives throughout the AMER Digital Realty portfolio with primary focus on adhering to established Digital Realty Security Standards and Design Engineering Guidelines. The Physical Security Project Manager will report to the Senior Director, Security Operations and Compliance and sit in Dallas, Texas.
What you'll do
• Types of project environments include: colo, scale, hyperscale, hybrid, high-density.
• Applies risk principles to all projects to ensure a comprehensive physical security plan.
• Supports physical security implementation in support of lease amendments and sales
activity.
• Plans, organizes, and coordinates new customer physical security installations and /
or upgrades to existing security systems in accordance with established Digital Realty
security standards.
• Oversight of security consultants, vendors, and other 3rd parties to deliver security
projects. This includes scope creation, vendor/consultant assignment, deliverable
tracking, training, and KPI review.
• Supports design reviews, RFIs, and approvals at critical project design phases and
construction milestones.
• Validate vendor / consultant quotes, drawings, specifications, and costs prior to
approval.
• Manage performance indicators of security service providers consistent with terms
and conditions of appropriate MSA's in place with vendors.
• Operates with a high degree of autonomy to lead and execute assigned projects
• Ensure a thorough understanding of relevant customer processes to enable timely and
accurate delivery of appropriate security services. Establish and maintain strong,
collaborative relationships with all key stakeholders.
• Meets financial objectives of the organization by contributing information and/or
making recommendations. Along with ensuring all projects come in at or under
budgeted amount.
• Remains up to date on both data center and security industry trends, including
technology, issues and threats to allow a proactive approach to meeting customers'
physical security needs.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, membership in
networking organizations, and cataloging processes / documentation.
• Comfortable with direct involvement with internal and external customers.
• Responsible for internal stakeholder training
• Ability to complete overnight travel as required.
What you'll need
• 5+ years of progressive experience in project or technical program management, with
a focus on delivering physical security deployments within data center or critical
infrastructure environments.
• Strong technical acumen in physical security controls and systems architecture,
including Access Control, Video Management, and Intrusion Detection systems, with
familiarity in relevant compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2).
• Demonstrated ability to apply structured project management methodologies to
successfully lead and deliver complex, cross-functional initiatives end-to-end.
• Proven expertise in developing and executing detailed project plans, including scope
definition, budget management, milestone tracking, and proactive risk identification
and mitigation.
• Highly effective at operating in ambiguous environments, prioritizing competing
demands, and driving alignment to ensure consistent, predictable delivery across
technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Relevant project management certifications (e.g., PMP, Scrum Master) and/or
physical security credentials (e.g., PSP, CPP) preferred.
Proven track record of effective physical security project management and project
delivery.
• Understanding of physical security system design, layers of protection, security
construction practices, and security commissioning efforts.
• Understanding of associated design groups (Architecture, MEP, Civil, Telecom, etc.).
• Understanding of access control platforms, video surveillance systems, basic network
and system infrastructure / architecture.
• Thorough working knowledge of security system design principles and installation best
practices.
• Strong management, leadership and planning skills.
• Understanding of project management tracking and commissioning platforms.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and engagement skills.
• Sound judgment and decision-making ability while under pressure.
• Internal drive and self-motivation to begin and continue / close tasks.
• Fluency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Proficiency in BlueBeam.
• Ability to work well in a team environment to facilitate the achievement of common
goals.
