Job description

Job Summary

The Providence Center Security Guard ensures the safety and security of the Center, its clients, visitors, and staff by preventing and responding to incidents involving crime, fire, trespass, and other emergencies. They maintain order and enforce Center policies, procedures, and regulations.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Patrol TPC facilities in their entirety, including parking areas and perimeter checks, to prevent fires, theft, and vandalism; maintain a physical presence on the property.
  • Patrol facilities and grounds, inspecting doors, windows, locks, and general security conditions.
  • Monitor for "Park and Ride" vehicles, issue warnings, and coordinate towing as needed.
  • Escort employees to parking areas upon request.
  • Respond to support team calls and assist during emergencies to ensure safety of clients, visitors, staff, and facilities.
  • Investigate unusual incidents reported by clients, visitors, or staff; document findings and complete incident reports in accordance with policy.
  • Report safety and security hazards and monitor functionality of security systems, escalating issues to management.
  • Enter work requests for maintenance needs.
  • Conduct safety assessments of buildings and grounds; ensure completion of identified repairs.
  • Inspect fire safety equipment and conduct/fire drills, completing required documentation.
  • Complete Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), Handle With Care (HWC), and other de-escalation trainings.
  • Assist in client restraint as necessary.
  • Issue and monitor employee ID/access badges and maintain appropriate supply levels.
  • Conduct biannual vehicle safety assessments and coordinate necessary repairs with Maintenance.
  • Maintain monthly security schedule in coordination with management to ensure adequate coverage and training compliance.
  • Serve as a preceptor for new security staff and may conduct new employee driver training.
  • Participate in the Environment of Care Committee to support applicable policies and procedures.
  • Attend required trainings, staff meetings, and in-service sessions.
  • Perform duties in accordance with TPC policies, standards, and applicable federal and state laws.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School or GED Required.
  • Minimum 1 to 3 Years of experience as a security guard preferred.
  • Valid driver's license. Rhode Island Chauffeur License or ability to obtain one.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong composition and report writing skills.
  • Ability to respond to common and crisis situations in a calm and efficient manner.
  • Enhanced observational skillset desired.
  • Public relations and customer service skills, as well as ability to respond appropriately to a large population with a variety of sensitivities.
  • Observes all relevant risk management and safety policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates competence in day-to-day interactions with clients and center staff.
