Job Description

Position Title: Data Scientist

Location: Redmond, WA

Hire Type: Full Time Only  

Salary: Good


Skills:

* 5-7 years work related experience. Advanced degree in Computer Science, Applied Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or Operations Research. 

* 3 -5 years of development experience in R. Knowledge of ensemble methods and clustering methods such as K-means, Naive Bayes etc.

* Industry experience in Data analytics/BI, Data modeling and visualization, Optimization and statistics.

* Knowledge of Databases with strong working knowledge on SQL and R

* Experience with data manipulation and analysis using Big data technologies like Map Reduce/Hive, Azure ML, Cosmos ML. Knowledge of C#.  

* Experience working with big data and real time/near real time analytics and big data platforms. 

* Proven experience in data mining/data analysis and statistics (percentiles, median, standard deviation, outliers, distributions). Hands on knowledge and experience in building models (propensity, churn, forecasting, cross-sell, up-sell, clustering, segmentation etc.)

*Any background in basic machine learning is a plus.  

* Experience in customer facing interaction is must (Gathering requirements, translating business questions into executable steps)

* Expert with Excel, PowerPoint, PowerPivot, PowerQuery, and other reporting tools. 

* Proven technical strength and creativity - the ability to think outside the box for technical solutions. 

* Strong cross-group collaboration and communication skills - ability to coordinate deliverables across teams. 

* Prior experience with cloud services or cloud data services and/or data analytics projects preferred.  

* Technical skills to ask the right questions and find the right answers & willingness to learn new skills. Development / Coding experience is a plus. 


Responsibilities:

Drive & participate at each stage of Life cycle starts from Data Acquisition to Deployment & Reporting of Statistical and Machine Learning Modelling.

Required to take full ownership of the Model Development

Understand business problem, extract/analyze data, provide insights & recommendations

Generate the Business Insights & Communicate the same to key stake Holders

* Identify and analyze large data sets for data quality, data sufficiency and data integrity etc. to support business decisions.  

Required to provide the Technical support with regards.to. ML Platforms & Cloud technologies, Domain to other team members.

Should able to come up with tailor made solutions for specific business problems

Required to prepare detailed technical and process documentation


Desirable Technical Skills

Preferred experience solving business problems using modeling, text/data mining on large scale real-world business data sets


Mandatory Functional Skills

Ability to work independently or to manage a virtual team that will research innovative solutions to challenging business problems 

Ability to collaborate with partners and drive analytic projects end to end, 

Superior communication skills, both verbal and written 

Attention to detail and data accuracy
