Job description

About Global Health Strategies

Global Health Strategies (GHS) is a global health and development communications and advocacy consultancy. We use research, advocacy and storytelling to inspire action on key policies, funding and programs — working with leading philanthropies, multilateral organizations, pharmaceutical companies, NGOs, and governments around the world.

Our work spans infectious diseases, universal health coverage, women's and girls' health, climate and agriculture, gender equality, and more. On any given day, our teams are drafting op-eds for senior global health leaders, building coalitions to drive new policy commitments, running communications for major international conferences, and creating campaigns that put critical issues in front of the audiences that can act on them. We do this work across offices in New York, London, Geneva, Nairobi, Johannesburg, New Delhi, Rio de Janeiro, and beyond.

About the Role

Our Associates are exceptional researchers and content producers. As the backbones of their teams, they know how execute effectively while bringing fresh ideas to their work.

We're looking for people who bring entrepreneurial energy to complex problems, who are as passionate about the craft of communications as they are about the issues, and who understand that impactful work — especially in a global, fast-moving field — doesn't always fit neatly into a 9-to-5. If that sounds like you, we'd love to be in touch.

Communications

  • Making complex concepts accessible and actionable to a wide audience through key messages, fact sheets, social media posts and creative digital materials
  • Getting journalists excited about an issue or announcement by identifying the right media contacts and drafting compelling pitches and press releases
  • Elevating the voice and expertise of high-level influencers by writing opinion pieces at key moments, prepping them for interviews, drafting speeches and talking points for events
  • Following and tracking trends in media coverage, key announcements, new evidence and high-level conversations that may impact priority global health challenges

Advocacy

  • Identifying strategic moments and new champions to influence target stakeholders and amplify our clients’ strategic goals
  • Getting partners on the same page through careful coordination, relationship management and message alignment
  • Getting partners, influencers and decision-makers in the same place by supporting high-level events, including identifying invitees and speakers, developing agendas or presentations, and managing the logistics
  • Building new coalitions of support for an issue with dedicated outreach, organization and relationship management
  • Following and tracking trends in global health policies and funding

Client/Project Management

  • Keeping tabs on all the moving pieces of your work, often in a fast-paced environment
  • Tracking project team monthly activities and account deliverables
  • Organizing team calendars and travel logistics
  • Attending events and meetings with senior management on behalf of clients
  • Increasing your efficiency, including through use of AI, as you become familiar with the team, work and issue area
  • Over-communicating with managers on progress and challenges

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1-3 years of related work experience
  • Microsoft Office proficiency

Valuable Qualifications

  • Comms agency, communications or public relations experience
  • Public health, global development or political campaign experience
  • Foreign language skills (French or Spanish, in particular)
  • International work experience
  • Experience with Adobe Suite of creative tools (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) or Canva

NYC Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000
