Job description

Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for an experienced CAD Operator to join our Structures team in Miami, Florida, (FL)! This is not a remote opportunity. 

Responsibilities
  • This individual will primarily be responsible for:
    • structural drafting assignments requiring advanced working knowledge of structural design/drafting standards, practices, and techniques in building structural, site structural, and heavy structural elements in concrete, masonry, steel, and wood
  • This person will develop technical drawings and plans using AutoCAD and REVIT software
  • The person in this position will make and quality check drawings and plans of substantial complexity and may perform some multifaceted calculations
  • Requires minimal supervision to perform day to day tasks 
  • Completes structural projects from initial concept, through construction documents
  • Has knowledge of engineering principles and suggests design changes
  • Maintains drawing database
  • May supervise and train CAD staff
  • Coordinates work activities to maintain schedules and ensure quality control
  • Develop familiarity with Kimley-Horn's practices, procedures, and standards
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (associates degree preferred)
  • 3+ years of relevant experience drafting structural systems
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency in Autodesk or Bentley products
  • Proficient in Autodesk Construction Cloud and BIM 360 for document management
  • Proficient with working in both paper and model space and with x-references, blocks, and sheet sets
  • Familiar with multidisciplinary projects and is able to coordinate/communicate with other disciplines on items related to the structural design
  • Detail oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player, self-starter
  • Strong work ethic, interpersonal communication/writing skills and desire to learn
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team
