Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Full-Time Remote Mental Health Counselor to join our dynamic team at First Responder Mental Health Clinic located in Irvine, California. This position offers an opportunity to work in a supportive and innovative virtual environment, where you can effectively support clients with mental health needs while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. The salary range for this role is USD 90,000 โ€“ 100,000 annually.

About the Organization

First Responder Mental Health Clinic is a specialized facility dedicated to improving the mental wellness of first responders and their families. Our mission is to provide tailored therapeutic services that address the unique challenges faced by these individuals, including trauma, stress, and anxiety. We are committed to fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture where mental health professionals can thrive and make a profound impact on their clients' lives.

Work Environment

This position is fully remote, allowing flexibility to connect with clients from the comfort of your own space. Our digital infrastructure equips our mental health counselors with cutting-edge tools to facilitate therapy sessions, allowing for seamless communication and documentation. You will be provided with an easy-to-use online system for scheduling, record-keeping, and treatment planning, enabling you to focus more on client care and less on administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct virtual therapy sessions with a focus on developing individualized treatment plans that adapt to client progress and feedback.
  • Employ evidence-based therapeutic techniques, including cognitive-behavioral therapy and mindfulness practices, to assist clients in navigating their mental health challenges.
  • Maintain accurate and timely client records using our digital management system to ensure compliance with best practices in mental health care.
  • Engage in regular consultations with fellow clinicians to discuss cases and share insights, contributing to a collaborative clinical environment.
  • Support clients' emotional and behavioral growth by providing actionable insights and resources tailored to their unique situations.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on first responders, including police officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel, as well as their families. This role requires a keen understanding of the specific stressors and traumatic experiences that first responders often face, and how these impact their mental health. You'll develop a rapport with clients who have varying degrees of mental health challenges, from acute trauma responses to chronic stress management.

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Active licensure such as LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC in the state of California.
  • At least two years of experience in providing mental health counseling, particularly in outpatient settings or virtual care environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage caseloads effectively with strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools for therapy and record-keeping.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working with first responders or in mental health settings focused on trauma and crisis intervention.
  • Familiarity with telehealth platforms and digital documentation systems.
  • Additional certifications in trauma-informed care or similar methodologies.
Compensation and Benefits

In addition to a competitive salary within the range of USD 90,000 โ€“ 100,000 per year, we provide a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • Employer-matched 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Health insurance coverage, including medical, dental, and vision plans.
  • Life insurance and additional benefits tailored to ensuring employee well-being.
Career Growth Opportunities

At First Responder Mental Health Clinic, we are committed to your professional development. With access to continuing education opportunities, training programs, and mentorship, you will have the resources necessary to expand your expertise and advance your career within our organization. Regular performance reviews will also offer pathways for promotion and leadership roles.
