What does a full time remote financial analyst do?

A full time remote financial analyst evaluates financial data, prepares reports, and provides recommendations to help organizations make informed business decisions—all while working from a location outside the traditional office. Their responsibilities often include analyzing financial statements, building financial models, forecasting trends, and supporting budgeting or investment decisions. Remote financial analysts use digital tools to collaborate with teams and clients, ensuring effective communication and productivity from any location. This role typically requires strong analytical skills, proficiency with financial software, and the ability to work independently.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time remote financial analyst?

To thrive as a Full Time Remote Financial Analyst, you need strong analytical abilities, financial modeling skills, and a degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Excel, financial planning software (such as SAP or Oracle), and data visualization platforms is typically required, and certifications like CFA or CPA are valued. Excellent communication, self-motivation, and time management skills help you effectively interpret data and collaborate remotely. These skills ensure accurate financial analysis, effective reporting, and seamless teamwork in a virtual environment.

How does working remotely as a financial analyst affect collaboration with team members and stakeholders?

As a remote Financial Analyst, you’ll use digital communication tools like video conferencing, chat, and collaborative spreadsheets to stay connected with your team and stakeholders. While you may have fewer in-person meetings, regular virtual check-ins and shared project management platforms help ensure everyone is aligned on goals, deadlines, and deliverables. Proactive communication and effective time management are key to overcoming challenges such as time zone differences or miscommunication. This structure fosters both independent work and collaborative problem-solving, often allowing for a more flexible work-life balance.

Job description

Are you a financial analyst?    Do you have legal experience?   Would you like to work with one of the top law firms in the US?  If so, R & W Group has a fantastic new opportunity!   One of our favorite law firm clients is looking for a Financial Analyst to join their team.    This role can be fully remote and located in one of 24 different states in the US.   Note that even though this is a remote role, you MUST be in the US in one of these states.
Our client is looking for a highly analytical and collaborative Financial Analyst to join the Finance team. In this role, you would partner with attorneys, practice groups, firm leadership, Marketing, and Finance colleagues to develop pricing strategies, evaluate alternative fee arrangements, assess profitability, and provide data-driven insights that support client value and firm growth.
This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with strong modeling, reporting, and communication skills to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic professional services environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with attorneys to develop pricing strategies and innovative fee arrangements that support client needs and firm profitability.
  • Create detailed matter budgets and financial models for hourly and alternative fee arrangements, including fixed fees, capped fees, blended rates, collars, subscriptions, contingency arrangements, and portfolio pricing.
  • Conduct sensitivity and scenario analyses to evaluate staffing mix, leverage, realization, margin, and profitability.
  • Perform profitability and contribution-margin analyses at the matter, client, practice, and firm levels.
  • Support pricing and budgeting components of RFP responses, client fee negotiations, and other business-development opportunities.
  • Prepare and communicate monthly financial reports, including attorney productivity, key performance indicators, and client, practice, office, and firmwide analyses.
  • Develop ad hoc analyses, reports, and presentations for senior management, attorneys, practice groups, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Use business intelligence and data visualization tools to identify trends and translate complex information into actionable recommendations.
  • Train attorneys on legal pricing best practices, matter-management techniques, and available business intelligence tools.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to develop client budgets, rate structures, and alternative fee arrangements that maximize client value and firm profitability.
  • Leverage generative AI tools, where appropriate, to enhance financial analysis, streamline reporting, support pricing scenarios, and improve data presentation.
 Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in legal pricing, financial planning and analysis, or a related financial-analysis role.
  • Strong financial modeling, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, advanced formulas, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and dynamic modeling.
  • Experience with business intelligence, report-writing, and data visualization tools preferred.
  • Power BI experience, including interactive dashboard development, DAX measures, data modeling, and visualization of financial and operational data, preferred.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively to attorneys, senior leaders, and other non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional judgment, professionalism, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • A collaborative, client-service-focused approach and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours as needed.
Please submit a resume and cover letter for consideration.  Solid compensation ($90 - $110K, depending upon location and experience).   The firm may provide a discretionary bonus annually.   Great benefits including health insurance.  Apply online or register with us at www.r-wgroup.com.
