Job description

About the Role: Westport Partners (www.westportpartners.com) is seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer to join our team as a full-time employee supporting a critical federal contract. In this role, you will be the driving force behind our DevSecOps initiatives, specifically focusing on integrating advanced security tools and automating security checks within a GitLab environment.

If you have a strong background in GitLab CI/CD, API integrations, and a passion for securing modern AI-native development workflows, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mature DevSecOps initiatives within the enterprise GitLab environment.
  • Integrate Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) tools—specifically Wiz and BigID—seamlessly with GitLab.
  • Design, build, and maintain automated GitLab workflows to strictly gate code promotion based on rigorous security checks and compliance parameters.

Required Qualifications:

  • Extensive, hands-on experience implementing DevSecOps practices directly within GitLab.
  • Proven track record of building complex GitLab CI/CD pipelines that enforce security checks prior to code promotion.
  • Strong experience engineering and implementing API integrations with GitLab.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct experience integrating DSPM tools (e.g., BigID, Wiz) with GitLab environments.
  • Experience detecting and securing sensitive information within AI-native artifacts (e.g., agent skills, Model Context Protocol (MCP) configurations).
  • Familiarity with modern AI tooling and concepts, including MCP, AI coding assistants, prompt engineering artifacts, agent frameworks, and mitigating software supply chain risks.

Clearance & Eligibility Requirements:

  • Citizenship: Must be a US Citizen. We are unable to sponsor for permanent residency (Green Cards) for this position.
  • Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance, which requires successful fingerprinting and a comprehensive background investigation.
  • Location: While this position is fully remote, the employee must be physically located in the Eastern time zone of the United States.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Standard Requirement: Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Note on Years of Experience: Exceptions to these requirements may be considered for candidates holding a Master's degree or higher, or those with exceptionally relevant specialized experience.
